I'll try to keep this as short as possible.
I'm a 32 year old athlete who has abused pro-hormones without the proper PCT. Namely M1T, 1AD, and Superdrol. Being naive and careless I have proceeded to throw my system into a tailspin of hormonal proportions. My last usage with October 2005 and since that time have been feeling blah.
A few months ago, at the doctor, I requested a hormone test (didn't really think I had a problem, I just wanted to see where I was at) well the results came back with TT at 262. After a month of taking DHEA (doc orders) it "climbed" to 290. Still low and especially for me. She has since started me on AndroGel 1%. I feel better but not what I know I could feel like but it is better.
How is AndroGel over the long term because I think that this may be a lifetime thing for me.
I also take DHEA 100mg daily. What about HCG? Would that be a help or not work at all?
Furthermore, what else can I do to help my cause along?
I've done a lot of research into this matter but I would like to know user's experiences.

Thanks for the input, Dr.. I actually am considering using your services to work with my PCP.
So, I guess I should stop the DHEA then, eh? Heard about the Estrogen possibility then I read about those who said it elevated their T levels as well... there is just so much conflicting research and evidence about DHEA.
I honestly didn't think the DHEA would do too much considering my levels are that low, but she insisted on trying that first.

Following a good Medical History, which laboratory assays should be run as part of your initial hypogonadism workup? Following is my list, but certainly other specialists in this area run expanded or attenuated panels, per their experience and expertise. Of note, there are several other tests which should be included to complete the true comprehensive Anti-Aging Medicine workup (i.e. homocysteine, fasting insulin, comprehensive thyroid study, etc.), as this chapter is concerned solely with administering TRT. And as always, the panel is tailored to the individual patient. Here they are:
Bioavailable Testosterone (AKA Free and Loosely Bound)
Free Testosterone (if Bioavailable T is unavailable)
Estradiol (specify the Extraction Method, or sensitive assay for males)
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
PSA (if over 40)
IGF-1 (if HGH therapy is being considered)
add liproprtein A, ft3, ft4, serum copper, serum zinc, shbg, dhea-s
24 hour Salvia or urine free cortisol
Once you have been on the gel you need to do a follow up with further testing to verify if the proper protocl is working and if there needs to be adjustments made. Most guys on Androgel usually ending up shutting down there own producion and may end up with less then what they started out with or that it may be converting to DHT and estrogen instead of testosterone. After changing only the amount of the gel and adding no other variable in such as DIM, armidex, the kitchen sink the dr can make another adjustments and so on. After you have been stabilized for a designated amount of time then your DR may add hcg to help rebalance all the hormonal pathways by activationg the cytochrome 450 which begins the cascade of events. The body is like an orchestra of fine intruments that is in a glory ballad how ever if one section fails to play then it sound liek total crap and this leads to disaster. What dr john is fine tunes each section so over time your hormones are incredible hormonous balance and you are just humming right along. mind you it takes times and pateince but its well worth feeling "healthy" again and not just "normal"

I am going for a follow-up in a few weeks, after my first month of gel usage. I have had the entire blood panel done, I will get a copy of it from my doc and post some results here this week for your viewing and interpreting pleasure.
that last paragraph is quite an eyeful to deal with. sounds like I will be looking at a future of guinea-pig-type experimentation with my test levels.

Ok... I go back for my blood work again 21 March.
Been on AndroGel 1% for almost a month. At first it was fantastic but I feel like it isn't working as well as it did.
Does it convert to DHT often? My hair seems to be thinning on top of my head.
Other than that my gains are getting better in the gym, but I don't feel like it is working all that great.
I will ensure I get the Estradiol test along with the full panel and post the results..
in fact I will get my old blood work and post that as well.
