i was curious to see how testosterone affects thyroid and vice versa. Does testosterone affect conversion of t4 to t-3 in any way.

Found this interesting Invalid Link Removed

Thyroid hormone affects EVERY cell in your body. No surprise that hypothyroid men would also suffer other hormone problems.

My hypogonadism started after being undertreated with synthroid post-thyroidectomy. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I believe the two to be related in my case.

Yep I have over load of xenoestrogens in my body and what makes it really bad is that my thyroid is so ****ed up that it can not even detoxify them so they are reciruculating and wiping out from zinc and vitamin E levels which are in crapper via white blood cell testing. No wonder no testosterone no freaken zinc could explain alot !!

Have you had a thyroid blood panel? TSH, Free T3 and Free T4?

Some people have issues with RT3 (an inert form of T3 the body produces when in "starvation mode")...I dont' recall how that is measured. Wilson's Syndrome descrives this in detail.

Been there done that I do have wilsons free t3 are in the low normal range and rt3 are way above where they are suppose to be. ratio should be less then 10:1 mine is 18 to one rt3:ft3. Doing cytomel only now with cortef, testosterone replacement. waiting for dr to order time released t-3 which is more tolerable then regular cytomel . But there is a huge contraversy which one is better. I finally found a dr to understand what is going on. What ever happened knocked out wacked out my thyroid, testosterone, adrenals. For being exposed to paint for 5 days complaining of head aches, memory lost, coming off contest dieting, and eating containated sushi all in one month could, over training. Dr told me I got wacked too much at one time and too much for my system to handle so it eventually just went into stress mode and slowly shutt down due to oxidative stress. After the stress had gone thyroid never recovered and was slow that it could not even detoxify the pollutants from the enviroment or from food. So it was a viscous cycle thyroid is needed to detoxify the thebody, but the toxins where clugging the thyroid receptors and wiping out nutrients to support the thyroid as well as antioxdent system.
