Prostate troubles and HRT

I'd ask this in another segment of the board, but you guys seem to be the most knowledgeable when it comes to bloodwork and overall male health. I have been battling what has been diagnosed as "prostatitis" but has no bacterial cause... negative cultures, antibiotic therapy failure, but I highgly suspect that my steroid use is a contributing factor.

I;ve been having burning in the prostate nearly every single time that I ejaculate... this burning lasts for a few hours then goes away until the next ejaculation or sometimes bowel movement. My PSA is 1.7 at the moment and has been bewteen 1.5 - 1.9 for the past 2 years with the symptoms being present lbeginning last year. My PSA actually went down .2 on my last blood test. THe volume is 25cc which is considered large for my age of 30. My current uro wants a catscan after this recent antibiotic run and doesn't think that a biopsy is warranted even though I am high for my age in terms of both size and PSA. Has anyone else experienced prostate irritation (not just reduced flow, but actual PAIN during/after sex) from androgen use, whether it was HRT or cycling? Is it possible that the irritation could be temporary and correct itself with plenty of time off? I took 12 weeks off of androgens and I was still in pain, although less so bc was having less sex due to lower libido. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

One needs to look at all the factors that can affect libido in relationships to hormones. Estrodial can be a huge factor that needs to be taken in to consideration when dealing with prostate issues. Alteration in estrogen metabolism can also be a huge culprit as well which can be from genetics to improper lifestyle, and nutritional imbalances.

Look deeper than your HRT. I've been on it since 2007 and have cycled PH/AAS at the same time with my only problem being blood pressure and cholesterol.

Not to say it couldnt be, but I wouldn't place the blame straight on your AAS use.

My libido isn't an issue though. I do wish that it was higher when off of high levels of androgens, but this really isn't my problem. My problem is pain post ejaculation. When you write "estrodial can be a hug factor than needs to be taken into consideration when dealing with prostate issues" can you please elaborate on this? Are you saying that high e2 can cause prostate irritation or permanent growth or reversible growth? Thanks.

I don't really want to put the blame there but it seems to make sense. The pain usually gets worse when I get 4-6 weeks into a cycle, but I don't know if the pain is coming as a result of irritation from the hormones or the fact that my sexual activity tends to increase to a great degree and this is causing problems to an already abnormal prostate. The biggest clue IMO that my problems are not androgen related is that my PSA has always been high. I had bloodwork done after a small 6 week 25mg oral dianabol cycle and 3 weeks of nolvadex PCT and my PSA was already at 1.5 - and this was only at age 26. I do recall in my history driving my e2 ino the single digits by using to much anastrozole and then I went cold turkey off of it.. maybe the e2 spike could've caused this issue? I just really hope that this is somehow reversible and if e2 is indeed the problem, I really don't want to take avodart, whcih will just make my e2 problems worse... bc I cannot stay on arimidex indefinitely bc it destroys my already low HDL. Any further insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
