Just go my bloods - 25yr old :(

Had 3 months in hospital fever etc 2 yrs ago. Last weeks tests came back:

Total T: 184ng/dl or 6.4 nmol/l (11.5-32)

SHBG: 11 (15.5-?)

Free Testosterone: 58.2 (15-100)

I am natural. But ever since hospital i have way less energy, concentration, down a lot more.

I am really confused, how can i have normal free T and low SHBG but tanked total T levels???

does having normal free T = i am completely fine?

thanks

Also, going to doc again in a couple days. First time we tested TSH, liver function, prolactin, tesosterone, fasting glucose. the others were normal, what should i ask to test extra this time?

LH, FSH, estrogen, ... t3/t4? etc

get tested for lyme disease using Invalid Link Removed I had it and it took down all of my hormone levels.

Total T is pretty well irrelevant if your free T is where it is. I would have been happy to have those overall #s.

The main other thing to check is estrogen

Insulin resistance and thyroid are screaming to be check out
Are you obesse or over weight at all?

yeah but my total T is horrendous. 184 is VERY low. having a high free T and low shbg means less time of action for the testosterone means you can be great in the am but low down depressed by night time as an example

my TSH was normal and so was LH FSH... but with such alow T LH and FSH should be throgh the roof i would think?

no i was 240, 8% BF but the last year got so low energy, i dont want to do anything at all. mood swings. just not the same person really

I had same thing infection knocking out HPTA.'
You need to find out if you are primary or secondary and then examine adrenal and thyroid function with a good HRT dr. Since i have been through this already the infection put a strain on your HPTA and you just need to have it released or give support for body to help get back to natural balance.

NEW TESTS

what you guys think of these now??

LH 4.1 (2-10)
FSH 2 (1.5-13)

cortisol 595 nmol/L (120-620)

OEST 106 pmol/L (<150)

Testosterone: 7.9 nmol/L (11.5-45)

Free Testosterone: 33.2 pmol/L (20-120)

DHEAS 3.3 umol/L (2.2-15)

SHBG 11 nmol/L (15-50)

TSH 1.90 mU/L (0.5-4.5)

Free T4: 17 pmol/L (12-20)

Free T3: 5.8 pmol/L (3.5-6)

free test range from lab is really weird and huge range...??

ft4 ft4 i have seen ranges up to 35pmol/l this goes to 20..??

Low SHBG would be potential low thyroid, insulin issue, or excessive body fat..
low fiber content in diet.
I be curious to see what you adrenal cortisol saliva looks like ..

just had fasting insulin done = 27 (<10) = insulin resistance

going for 2hr glucose tolerance test on monday.

I dont get it. i am 230 8% 6'5, my diet is massive fiber prob 40g a day +, most fat is fish oils, low carb (300g a day) all low GI except pre post workout, 3x weight, 3x cardio...

dont know how i could make lifestyle any better than it is...

any thoughts?
also is my T levels so low i would prob need HRT?
an what about this high cortisol/low dhea scenario?

ok so tuesday now i s2hr glucose tolerance test, ACTH, cortisol, testosterone total, tsh t3 t4

- my worries are low t, low dhea, high cortisol, (ofcourse the insulin but being death with)

anything else really important to test at tis point??

Too much insulin can shut down your LH resulting in lower testosterone.
Cortisol levels may be elevated and cortisol saliva 4 point would be the optimal test to do

You need free t3 and ft4 level, rt3 levels as well because insulin can affect them.
If insulin is high this can lower zinc, magnesium, chromium, potassium all factors that help you regulate insulin levels. After looking at your nutritional factor and lifestlye, the next thing I would look is at your sleep hygiene. Just one night of sleep can cause major insulin issues.

my free t4 and t4 are in the list up top. they are pretty high too but my family has a history of graves and high thyroid my thyroid peroxidase antibodies are 50 (<60)

i take zinc, magnesium supplements. my potassium is all good.

sleep could be an issue. never been a big sleeper. all of university slept 4 or 5 hours a night and felt great but now hard to sleep and tired all day. thinking it was the low T though.

will look into the cortisol saliva test

why is blood cortisol not as good?

Coritosl blood is space and time can be falsely elevated due to being pissed off driving in , fear of the needle or people at lab are idiots and it stresses you . Many times adrenal look normal because your body is in stressed state when they take the blood resulting in false readings. If adrenals are low then this can cause issues with cellular response also look at ferritin levels >130-180 is healthy range for a male unless they have cancer

been battling low T for a while (2yrs+)
saw a doc a month and a half back first time

anyway first test was 6.4 nmol/L (11.5-32)
2nd (+ 2 weeks) = 7.9
3rd (+2 more weeks) = 8.9

is this within normal everyday variation or is it going up? LH/FSH havnt moved.. FSH low normal, LH midline normal each time....
going for a forth in 2 weeks... what if that is now 9.9?!

also
my thyroid went

Ft4 17 (10-20) 1 week later = 11
Ft3 5.8 (3-6) 1 week later= 4.2

Insulin will cause issues with thyroid and other sex hormones.
Dr needs to examine rt3 and adrenal cortisol levels.
I be looking at what factors woiuld be affecting this such as deficeincy in zinc, magnesium, b-12, selenium, iodine, ferritin, insulin, high cortisol levels as potential causes.
