Testosterone made from plants?

I had a consult with a doctor who said he uses a compound pharmacy that makes a 20mg test cream made from a vegetable (don't remember which veggie). He said it is identicle to the test that the human body produces.

I know nothing about this stuff and wondered if this is the tesosterone that is typically used in creams of if this guy sounds like a fish oil salesman.

I believe that the testosterone in AndroGel (R) is derived from soy. If I remember correctly too, one of the compounds found in wild yams is 1 or 2 chemical modifications from testosterone, therefor could be synthesized from there, too.

even androgel comes from a derviative of soybeans
