Microsurgical varicocele repair on NHS in UK

Hi

I am looking at getting the Microsurgical varicocele repair in the UK on the National Health Service and wondered if anyone has had this treatment in the UK and if so where? As I cannot find a hospital this provide the treatment.

Brian,

I can suggest that Gloucester Hospital are able to as I'm waiting for an appointment for this very operation in the next couple of months.

Hi Dj,

Thanks for your response but unfortunately Gloucester dont perform the Microsurgical varicocele repair just the normal laparoscopic op, I have pasted the email I got from the hospital.

"I have had a response for the urology team who have advised that:-

Microsurgical varicocele correction is not done here and they do not
know where it is done locally.
Laparoscopic varicocele - this can be done here under the care of Mr
Aloy Okeke.

Brian,

Not sure what to recommend. My initial appointment was at Cheltenham Hospital, only because it was more convenient for me...try them. I had a failed laparscopic at Chelt assuming I have the terms correct and this is the keyhole surgery performed under x-ray/ultrasound by inserting a coil into the vein to try and induce clotting?
Then I had two appointments in Glos post to follow up when I was told to come back for the full operation (cut in the groin and veins tied off). This was actually performed in Cheltenham and so maybe it's worth trying them?

I'm very surprised they couldn't help.
