Guys, I've got an initial appt with Dr. Mariano scheduled next month ... I'm still waiting on his order for blood testing before I go. As you might have read on the other threads I started, I've had two T tests, one last Oct that showed TT of 235 and one this January that showed TT of 434. Neither tested estradiol, unfortunately and neither doc was willing to discuss supplemental T. My symptoms were no nocturnals/morning erectoins for about 5-6 years, general lack of energy, poor sleep, and slow to get hard for sex. I think the 2 years I spent on Propecia may have triggered this.
However, in January, I started taking some supplements (L-Arginine, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Propionyl L-Carnitine) as well as Zinc (because I'd been having a bit of a prostate infection.)
Ever since, I've been having night time erections again. I also was able to quit using Viagra for sex and I was getting some spontaneous erections talking to my GF, etc.
After doing lots of reading on this board, I'm beginning to think it was the Zinc, not the amino acids I was taking that was doing the trick. And I suspect it was because the zinc lowers my estradiol, letting my T come up. I never knew about this property of zinc before.
All that said, I've also been reading about Chrysin and how it fights estrogen and allows T to rise and I'm thinking, "Why didn't I know about that earlier!?"
I'd really like to give Super Miraforte a try along with maybe ZMA to keep the Zinc in the mix ... but now I don't want to start because it will probably screw up any tests that Mariano orders.
I'm debating whether to postpone my appt with Mariano maybe 6 months and see what these OTC supps do for me before flying to Monterey, etc. If they don't work, then I could detox of them and go see him for help. However, if they work, wouldn't this be the better alternative?
What do you guys think?
