Post Slin Meal Choices

Well I have all my research finished, checked, and double checked. I want to be damn sure I don't miss anything or get something wrong as we all know where that could lead. My last question is about carb options and meals with the slin.

For those who have used slin before, what type and ratio of carbs do you use along with your initial dose and protein shake? Also, what type of carbs do you recommend for the follow up meal a couple hours later? If you could give some examples of each would be very helpful. This will be humulin R, not humalog.

Thanks

I use around 7g/iu PWO, this is either a dextrose or a malto shake.

My later meal consists of Low GI carbs, Usually a whole grain bagel which gives me around 50g carbs, or sometimes i eat a sandwich using low GI carbs and a glass of milk.

Why are you using humulin r?

Thanks for the info. This is about what I had in mind. As for the type of slin, I guess it was because it was available without a script. From what I've read, humalog is by prescription only. I realize humalog would be a better choice. If there's something particular that I need to know about humulin R, please inform me. Thanks again.

"Humalog (and no other insulins) has been shown to actually still be effective in those with insulin resistance, and is therefore theorized to also not cause insulin resistance to nearly the degree that other insulins do."

What this means to us mainly is the fact that one can use slin with less worry of insulin resistance, so it may be used a lot longer w/ less time off than other insulins.

Also humalog is in and out of the system a lot faster than humalin, therefore you can go about your daily life 2.5 hours later w/o worries. During the window that the slin is active, its in your best interest not to eat fat, this is much easier to do for 2-2.5 hours w/ the Humalog.

Humalog does require a script in the US. If you order from Canada however this is not a problem.

I will definitely look into ordering it from canada. I want to get this right the first time and I'm in no hurry to screw myself up with the wrong thing. I really appreciate your help and info. Once I get everything together, I will write out my plan in detail and post it so that I can get some feedback and make any corrections before I begin. Thanks for your help.
