When you get a number, usually text a few times, then call. I have used this many times, and girls have verified that this is a good way to do things.

Heres a few good lines to get the number:
"put your number in my phone and we will hang out sometime."
"I gotta get back to doing...xyz...how can we continue this conversation?'
Take a piece of paper, tear it in half, and hand her half and a pen. If she asks what its for say" I'm sure your a smart girl, use your imagination." If you wanna be funny add"draw a picture of yourself on there too, so I can remember what you look like."

When you get the number you can also ask "should I call or text?" Got this from a friend of mine.

Took me a while to figure this one out too.
I was getting numbers, but many were flaking whenn I would call.

2 things I did to fix this:
1. text a few times, then make one of your texts "call me real quick?" Flake percentage on numbers has gone way down.
2. the interaction. If i was being very flirty, and didnt get more serious, or do some "get to know you" stuff in the interaction, the flake percentage was quite high. Its as if i wasnt taken seriously.
Once you "know" your attracted, and share a little about one another, it tends to be a solid number.
