| Registered User | Married men, what kind of wedding ring did you buy ? I was listening to the radio this morning, and they usually have a topic that they talk about. There was a woman who was 26 who called in that recently got engaged (3 weeks ago). The guy bought her a white gold ring with a 1 caret diamond. She was calling in to the radio b/c she was upset and she wanted a 4 caret diamond in platinum, not white gold. So because of this, she hasen't told anyone (friends/family) that she was proposed to by this guy, b/c inevitably they will ask to see the ring which in her words, she is incredibly embarassed about. She only wears the ring around him, but really hates it and says she has 'high' standards and shouldn't settle for a ring that she dosen't want. One of her solutions was to "accidently" lose it. Discuss. The phones are open. |

| CEL Rep (Z's lacky) Board Sponsor | I had a custom designed engagement ring and matching wedding band made by a very well known jeweler. The engagement ring (and band) are made of white gold with very detailed/complex engraving throughout... they have that "estate" look to them and look older than they really are. The center stone on the engagement band is elevated and is a 0.50 carat, ideal cut, D colored internally flawless princess cut diamond. On each side are step cut (rectangular) bagettes totalling about 0.4 carats. The wedding band is the same band as the engagement ring although the elevated portion holding the center stone was removed and instead a larger 0.25 carat bagette was added in between the two side bagettes so it is basically 3 bagettes going across the ring. The engravings are all the same as on the engagement ring. My wife was blown away and absolutely loved it. I know her tastes. I could have gotten her some tacty 2 ring (that looks like everyone elses) for what I spent but I opted for the custom design. It is a 1 of 1 and I have the molds for the ring so it can never be made again, unless she loses it than I can have it rebuilt. Whats funny is her friends that are engaged like it better than theirs. That situation you described above has some fine lines. I can understand a woman being unsatisfied if her husband makes 100k a year and only spends 4k on an engagement ring. It shows that the person is cheap, obviously, but it also shows that you the guy is not willing to make a sacrifice for his supposed love. Now, If a guy makes 36k a year and spends 4k on a ring this shows one hell of a sacrifice. Lots of time saving and possibly some debt to show how important the woman is to him. Thats how I see it. Either way the ring is just a symbol of ones love for another. I think even if a woman gets a "crappy" ring she should focus more on the message it carries with it, not its value. When I bought my wifes ring I definitely could not afford it but I sacrificed by saving and skipping spending money on things I like (supplements! lol) Competitive Edge Labs bill @ competitiveedgelabs.com PMs requesting sources will be deleted. | Registered User | Being ungrateful is a major sign of doom and gloom ahead for the poor guy. She should be happy with any ring, all she seems to care about is showing off to her family/friends. I bought a diamond from a jeweler in NY and had it mounted at robin's bros. locally. It looks great and kept the costs way down. If this chic wants a 4c rock, let her fork out $ for it. Sadly, it seems more of the trailer trashy mentality for those kind of ladies to want some huge rocks, and usually they care about size more then the quality. Ok I'm done ranting ![]() Quote:

| Dave Board Sponsor | wow ... leave it to google ads.... this is the ad that was at the bottom of this thread the last time i looked at it... im tired of this brainwashed mentality of needing to buy pretty things to show LOVE. A girl should be honored to be proposed to... a guy should be honored for her acceptance... we dont need to throw 3 months of salary out the window to prove it so she can brag to her mindless co-workers. Ive often contemplated proposing with a $1 cracker-jack ring.. if she accepts... shes a keeper and ill pull out the real ring....if shes insulted..then she does not truly love me. anyone check out the synthetic diamonds (not cubic zirconia..they are lab created diamonds)... they look 99% real and are about 5% the price. Most jewelers cannot tell the difference anyways. I also read an article where they showed a $50k diamond and a Cubic Zirconia to jewelers.. half of them couldnt pick out the real one. 'real' diamonds are just a waste my gf wants some cut diamond thats pretty rare and expensive..she actually told me shed be happy with a synthetic one bc she knows its a waste of money especially when there are more important things to invest in at this point in our lives Dave (at) paloaltolabs . com PAL on MySpace Palo AltoLabs @ NUTRAPLANET..check out our online store!!
