I speak from experience, and 99% of the time its the parents ignorance, im just thinking of the kids, its not their fault, but it becomes their problem.

Im just a proletariat trying to make it in this crazy mixed up world.

I wasn't making light of his sacrifice i feel bad for his family, but when you die on the job, even as a police officer, the government doesnt use you as a political pawn. The army is just a job right now, maybe at one time it was an altruistic venture, but it has become a substitute for college, and a catch all for people who dont know what else to do.

I used to work at a plant with 2 USMC and i quizzed them to no end about there service, these are their opinions too. They left the army with no skills, 1 guy was PTSD, and they were making $10 an hour.

The military is not just substitute for college, and a catch all for people who don't know what else to do. There may be people who do use it as that, but that does not make it to be such. I joined knowing what I was getting into, have learned great skills (I guarantee if your hurt or sick you want me by your side; not bragging, just simply stating there are many alive because of the skills I have been taught), achieved a college education courtesy of the military's expense. I had many options as do many others, but we chose this as a career just as anyone else chooses their career. I can not speak to know the life and career moves of your two friends, but there are many skills you gain from the military and many resources available to them. You just have to use them. The marines particularly are masters at small unit leadership and there are numerous jobs/companies that hire them solely for their leadership abilities besides being able to transition into great jobs such as various law enforcement agencies from local police to border patrol to the FBI. In fact there are job fairs open only to active duty and prior military.

I think the biggest problem of your posts is that you generalize and assume far to much.

All I am saying FP, is that its easy to judge others from thousands of miles away in the comfort of your living room, not looking your own mortality in the face.

This war has blurred the line between combatants and non-combatants. Woman and children are actively engaging US Soldiers with rifles and improvised explosive devices. When that happens kids will die.
True.

He should try reading Lone Survivor about the Seal Team in Afghanistan. Maybe it would shed some light on such situations.
