Ok I've spent at least an hour throughout the past couple of days trying to understand number 83. Hopefully y'all can read it, because it didn't scan too well.

Basically, it gives me a sum expression for the function LNx and wants me to find the highest value of abs(LNx - f(x)). f(x) is the sum expression of LNx only for the first 3 nonzero terms. The interval for x is [.3,1.7].

the sum of LNx centered at x=1, in case you can't read it, goes like this:

sum from n=1 to infinity of: (-1)^(n+1) * ((x-1)^n)/n

*Answer is supposed to be letter C*
If anyone has any way explaining this to me, or any link explaining it, that help would be greatly appreciated. I have straight A's in calc 2 so far, but this is pretty much the only time i've been absolutely stumped by a question. And it's on the review for the final, so that sucks.

Oh well, I don't remember seeing this type of problem in class, so hopefully it won't be on the final.
