Stimulating the US Economy

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 check.

If we spend it at Walmart, the money will go to China.
If we spend it on gasoline, the money will go to the Arabs.
If we purchase a computer it will go to India.
If we purchase fruits and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.
If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan or Germany.
If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan... And none of it will help the American economy.

The only way to keep the money here at home is to spend it on prostitutes, weed, beer, and tattoos, since these are the only products still produced in the USA.
Thank you for your help, and please support the US.

hey I am happy I am getting $1500, but you are sadly right. Either way, I am using it on a vacation in august. woo hoo

I'm using it to bring my oldest son down to NYC for a week and catch two Yankee games in July.

I had the same thoughts about this... everyone i know is going out to buy a big screen LCD TV... just the bump in sales china needs in May!

At the end of the day... $600 is not all that much money... sure ill take it, but i think they could have done better with it.

But lets be serious... while the END product might come from abroad, most of the companies are USA based... so there is some benefit to the USA

Just a thought. When you get that money...spend it. Because each day you have it, it is getting devalued. Where do you think they are getting the $600 per tax paying American from? They are printing it, lol.

I'm not sure if this post was in all seriousness, but if it was then it is stupid.

Americans work as intermediates for these countries. While the source may come from another country, there are still Americans who move/push/sell the product and make money off of it.

I agree with you 100% but it seems like these types of posts (by the OP) liken back to the "glory days" when manufacturing of goods was done in this country.

Wow, it blows my mind. The gov't actually giving money back to the working people?

Keep in mind that this is happening under a republican party, Never has it happened with any other and it never will.

Of course it wasn't a serious post! I actually thought it would be quite obvious, but maybe I should've put a ;) in there somewhere or something.

Keep in mind that this money is actually being borrowed from China and other countries who are willing to buy up our DEBT. If you want to make arguments like this than i will argue that this recession is happening under a republican party, just like the last 4 recessions.

We are actually not in a recession because we had positive growth of the GDP in the 1st quarter. For a recession, there must be decline in the GDP for 2 consecutive quarters.

If you think large number of people are losing their houses today, ask your parents about the Carter Administration when 50% of homes with a mortgage were foreclosed on.

On the topic of the Chinese being involved, Clinton set the ball rolling on that one.

By the time everything is said and done, about 60% of your money goes to taxes of one form or another. How nice of the government to give us back 600 bucks of the money they took from us.
