So I Had This Dream...

I was being interviewed. Not for a job, but to determine whether I would live or die. I didn't feel a real sense of urgency, oddly enough, but the dream seemed real.

I was asked, "What do you do?" As if this might determine my value. "I teach at an inner-city school, and I coach". I went on to explain that alot of my students came from really difficult situations and backgrounds. I told them I had about 100 kids that depend on me, plus about 40 on the field. It occured to me as I was talking that this would save me.

Not the specifics really, but that I was helping people who needed it. And believe me, there is a sacrifice. The pay is low, the hours are long and the environment is hard.

It led me to share this; you don't have to work in a school or a hospital. You don't have to work with poor people. But we do have to help eachother. and not just those people that can return the favor. Do it with no strings attached.

What would you have said in the dream? Who would miss you if you were gone?
