My computer is all slow and stuff now so i decided to download a free program to get rid of 1000+ infections and 14 trojans. Anyone put up some links to some free programs to remove this stuff please, because i tried like 5 of them and i need a registration to use them which leads to me having to buy them... please help me.

go to www.download.com and download Ad-aware 2007 spybot search and destroy and hijackthis you can also get the free antispyware program from grisoft the makers of AVG anti virus www.free.grisoft.com
Great advice zombie, after you run these you should also download ccleaner and run that. One word of advice though , install and get the updates for all of them , shut down your computer and restart in safe mode ( hit f8 repeatedly as your comp starts) and run them in this mode.

I've used hijackthis before and it works great... now i just run norton 360 suite, I'm pretty happy with it and feel safe... but none of these tools will really help you if you keep opening email attachments hackers will always find new ways to infect your system

i used to think the same way but their internet security app with antivirus works great... i specially like the firewall integration they have it alerts me when any application is trying to access the net or trying to access my system, so i have applications that i don't want to look for new updates i can turn it off here.

for freebie malware reduction I like lavasoftf's adaware, but really no single software program can make you 'safe', wether it's worth paying for or not. Honestly the safest thing you can do is learn to use operating systems that are less common, like linux, etc, and less common web browsers as opposed to IE. Nowadays even firefox is 'mainstream' enough to provide a target rich environment.

well for my point of view if you can manage to learn how to handle linux then youre not going to have any problems with windows. i dont get problems from spyware and virus and i only have avg free edition and those programs installed i cant recalled the last time i used them on my own computer. I have worked and currently work with several linux distros but the problem is that a big percentage of the people that use Windows arent really computer literate, why waste time to learn another OS, i know linux is more stable mo re secure as long as you keep all the patches uptodate your going to be safe, but i dont see as a solution changing OS's

yeah it'd be an overkill solution to go out of your way to learn a new OS just for a slightly less transparent mask of safety, (the people who can do the most harm are versatile programmers afterall) was just the more technical side of me coming out.

my votes are for ad aware, spybot, and hijack this. You'll be set and stay away from those kind of sites. if you must surf poRn online, buy a cheap bullshit comp just for that so you don't risk all your important **** or maybe partition your hardrive.
