What Birth Control Pill is your GF / Wife on?

I'm curious what forms of birth control / contraceptives you guys have your girls on?

My most recent girl friend was a virgin when we started dating, and had never been on birth control before. She just recently started taking Ortho Tri-Cyclin Lo, which contains norgestimate /ethinyl estradiol. She is two weeks into it and has been battling the full gammot of side effects. The first week she was regularly throwing up, head ache, sinus congestion, chronic fatigue, etc. The most frustrating side effect for us though has been that it has completely killed her sex drive. Not only is her libido in the gutter, she has been a good sport and has been trying to kick start it via physical intimacy, but she can't orgasm, and she can't even really get wet. This is with a girl that I literally have to hide from on squat / deadlift day because I am convinced she will drain all the "testosterone" out of my body if I let her

I've had many many gfs on various forms of The Pill before, and never have I encountered one that had such dramatic reaction. She is on a pill with a low dose of estrogen, compartively, and I am wondering if the low estrogen amount could be screwing with her sex drive?? We went back to her doctor's office and they said it was a "normal adjustment period" and that we needed to give it three months. My gf and I looked at eachother like, "you ****in' kidding us!?".

Anyways, I told my girl I knew just the guys to ask.... so let's here it fellas

Yaz is supposed to have zero sides. I see it advertised on television all the time.

I think the 3-month 'waiting period' is for that specific brand of BC. My ex and I only had to wait a month, but keep reading (lol.) All BC are different.

My ex was supposed to be on the Pill for at least a month before we had sex, but we made it 2 weeks. She got the kind of BC from Planned Parenthood. We were fine for quite some time. They ended up taking her off it at one point, for some reason, which I didn't think they could do. Anyways, she ended up getting taken off of it. We continued having sex. I was constantly breaking condoms, left and right. I hate them to begin with, especially when you're getting your freak on and they break in the middle of your dirty deed. Anyways, needless to say, we now have a newborn baby boy.

My fiancee takes the Depo Provera shot. Good for 3 months at a time. She has had zero sides from it. Been on it 10 years. She loves it because she never has a period anymore. She used to get horrible cramps during that time.

My girlfriend uses the Ortha-Evra patch. I think there's too many negative health risks involved with its use, but she hasn't experienced any of them.

My girlfriend uses the Nuva ring. That little ring is awesome. Its a small rubber ring that a girl wears inside he vagina for 3 weeks, then the week she starts her period she pulls it out for a week. The next week she throws a new one in there and repeats the cycle. She has had zero sides from it. you may want your gf to give that a try.

Low-Esterin 24 (some letters follow) Yea she freakd her 1st month on it after switching from somthing else because she was late and then it was super light and then super heavy.

Probably the worst BC out there. I advise everyone to stay away. She feels like she's pregnant a lot especially when it's close to here period, but isn't. I think she has about 6 months left on it then switching to something else.

It's fairly new, I believe, so that could be why. I think more GPs are starting to turn to Yaz when Tri-Cyclen, Alesse, Depo, etc., fail.

I was pleasantly surprised to see my gf's breasts did not shrink after growing on Alesse (due to the low Estrogen).

Unfortunately, that can very easily still cause pregnancy.

    *Sigh*

But all that matters is, you have a girl who'll allow you to do that anyways.

I see Yaz advertised on tv quite a bit. It seems to be the safest and most effective.

    Crader,

Was it painful to have inserted?

It was not really painful to have it inserted, it lasted all of 3 seconds.

It can't be knocked out. Your body can reject it. But no I have never had an issue with it ever.

My wife actually just stopped the pill 3 months ago......little traumas' on the way soon. My wife never tolerated the pill well at all. Always somewhat nauseated to say the least. She took ortho tri-cyclin herself.

I actually just took care of a patient the other day that had a tubal ligation(tubes tied) and was complaining of abd pain. Well, the shortened version of the story is she was pregnant. I've seen it happen before a few times before. Talk about a shock huh

I don't know if this would apply to the IUD, but just think about the long-term effects of the more advanced methods of BC. Hypothetically speaking, say you and your girlfriend were to get serious and eventually wanted to have kids.

Just think about that. But like I said, I don't know if that would apply to the IUD. I'm a firm (no pun intended) believer in BC and think it should be much more readily available to women. It's nothing to mess around with, though. If someone doesn't want kids someday, then they could live their life on it, but for those who do wanna have children someday, excessive use could have some long-term side-effects. Just something to keep in mind.

Birth control isn't solely the woman's responsibility by any means. It a mutual effort and responsibility in its prevention. It's not often that the method fails in prevention itself, it's the user(s) at hand that does(do.)

That's why I made a reference about both of them keeping certain things in mind and making sure that it's what they both want.

I have a newborn son, whom my ex recently gave birth to. She was on BC for quite some time herself. My current girlfriend is also on BC. If they choose to go on BC, then I support that decision. If they didn't want to, then I'd wear condoms. Problem solved.

Actually since the copper IUD has ZERO hormones in it. My DR said I can get it removed and actually get pregnant the very same day if the time was right. It in now way impedes pregnancy later on. Its why I choose that form.
    A: no hormones
B: I don't have to think about it, or forget to take it
C: I can get pregnant any time I want to have it removed.

    That's pretty interesting.

My girlfriend hates always having to remember to take her pill. I wonder if she's heard of this IUD. She knows about the different pills, patches, and shots, but this would help put her mind at ease, so she doesn't stress over missing a pill and worry about us getting pregnant.

If she were to be interested, then would she just go about asking her doctor for an IUD? How is it put in? How long does it take to become effective? Exactly how does it prevent pregnancy? I don't mean for these to sound personal and invasive. After all, you have an IUD yourself. I'll understand if you don't wanna answer the questions. No worries.

Alesse until it was discontinued. She has now stopped it after ten years to let her body recover.......guess what...she's horny as all get out!! I love it!

The pill must have been cremating her sex drive completely cause now she's my own personal and loving sl**
