What year are you in college ?

It might make more sense to buy into a franchise like Vitamin Shoppe if you want to get into supplements. I'm not gonna say GNC for obvious reasons. I like Vitamin Shoppe though, I go there alot.

I own/operate a family business. Machining and fabrication. A great field if you can get in with a good company. We're small enough that we don't hire, but big enough that we don't turn down much. Small enough that we can do custom parts and small runs, but big enough to do smaller production runs with high tolerance call outs.

Dont ever HOPE a significant other will be or do something. I have a cousin in the IT industry. He works for Apple. Well, he got married to a lovely woman, and she quit her job that week. She started spending and didn't stop for 5 months. Thats about the time he kicked her sorry ass out for good.

Be fsking careful when you talk about marriage. The **** is for real. You hear people ***** about how certain supplements are either illegal or dangerous...****, marriage should be scrutenized by the DEA and FDA. It will kill you if you don't do it just right.

being single 35K isn't a ton of money, but if you manage it properly you'll be alright.

I've said this time and time again to everyone I know and the thing is I also knew this too in college:

Make sure what you decide is something you enjoy (or atleast don't hate) or else your life will suck. There is nothing worse than choosing the wrong career path and hating your job everyday...because well, it is what you'll be doing for the rest of your life. It is a good thing that you know this though, but that should be your #1 factor in your career path. Money comes in at #2.

I used to be a Bio major and dropped it. I'm about a year away from getting my BSBA in Finance. I used to be a personal trainer and after about a year of that I knew for sure that wasn't anything I wanted to do as a profession.

I plan on moving back to Chicago once I get my degree, get a job, get my MBA, and then go from there. I-banking, possibly. I'll have to see. I know I for sure want to supplement my income with poker. It's a big hobby of mine, and I'm an excellent player. There's too much money to be made not to take advantage of it.

There you go. No college degree necessary, something we all enjoy, and flexible hours !

I'm a teacher and a football coach. If anyone chooses teaching then he/she better get a graduate degree or the money will suck for a while. Coaching also helps me get a little bit of extra money. Sports gambling is also my side job. It pays all right if you know what you're doing and can be disciplined.

I drive a tractor trailer part-time and do office work part-time. Work 50+ hours/week. Make 15$/hour and that sheeit isn't EVEN CLOSE TO BEING ENOUGH.

I was living with a girlfriend but recently I broke it off with her and I'm SOOOO much happier now. The only thing I miss is that paying the bills was MUCH easier and actually had extra money then to save and spend. Now all my money is gone every paycheck and I can't even scratch the surface of saving/spending on going out, etc..

I'm actually meeting with a college counselor at 2pm today for radiology. I still need 28 more credits to get my degree in CIS/tellecommunications but I dislike computers with a PASSION. Cept for the internet, obviously. But from all that I've talked to, etc, etc...I think I'll like radiology and it does pay well.

I took several nuclear physics courses which some overlay into radiology for a minor and they were quite challenging.

Of course there is no other class that is worse than Whoreganic Chemistry. I never liked that class....ever. I took an accelerated course that covered 1 year worth of material in 1 semester which made it that much worse.

MAAAAANE!!!! Talk about some BS.

Went and talked today with counselor. She said that they get 180apps/every fall semester for rad-tech and only accept 20!!?? F- that man...not getting easily discouraged, but you should see the curriculum for this major....I might as well go for nursing.

And I asked about just going back for what I was taking before CIS/Tellecommunications with a networking focus and only 1 fvcking class will transfer over!!! AHHHH!!! mY god man, she said that it has changed within the last 7 years and that eventhough I only needed 28 more credits back then to complete it, now I'll have to take every single mutherfvcking class over again...well one class will transfer over...geez, that saves the fvcking dAY, EH?? Wow, talk about being jacked off. I need a burger:burg:

damn i hate to admit it but you americans are a lot more educated then us aussies. i say educated rather more intelligent because i think there is a difference.....i think its 1 in 5 go to university at home. no grad school or business school and stuff like that. i can imagine the competition for jobs in the states is ruthless.

luckily i work in finance where degrees aren't required as much as ther industries. Once you get to the interview stage i think a lot of it comes down to personality anyway.

back to the original question, if all goes according to plan i will be a trader in a few years time.

and one more little thing. i think a persons salary is not the most important thing, its what that person does with the salary that counts. half the time the more you earn the more you end up spending. Today's schools have it all wrong. they should be drilling kids with ideas on how to invest their money rather then teaching them shakespeare and useless sh1t like that.

I never understood why people can't be successful in America. There are literally opportunities knocking on everyone's door and all you have to do is respond with hardwork. Even in the US there are countless student loans to help people who are not so finanically well off. With as many avenues and opporunities all you literally have to do is grab them. Lack of education for finances is a thing of the past in the US.

i think that applies in most developed countries. There will always be people that have a head start from wealthy parents or daddies friend or what ever but at the end of the day ones success should come from hard work and determination. People often look for someone so blame when it comes to their situation in life rather then admit defeat and do something about it.

I'm in the second best career field (Medical being first, IT being second) and I can't even afford to live. Let me rephrase that. I can't afford to live...to the point of not even having enough money to buy protein powder, let alone going out or enjoying anything. My condo is a decent two-bedroom and I drive a beat up **** bag.

Life is grand. Well, atleast I still have death right?

I'm an environmental consultant or more specifically, a biologist who does the surveys for wetlands, endangered species, and other environmental features that are required by the feds for the developement of lands..private and federal.

Haven't been doing much of that the last 2 years and have been remodelling houses instead. Did very well on one house and now have one sitting on the market doing nothing. Ya win some, ya lose some.

The US having strong, consistent growth is one of the main reasons why people can be employed if they want to. There's always someone hiring. We average unemployment rates of 4-5% lately and that's terrific. Third world countries rate more like 45 to 80% unemployment in hellholes like Sierra Leone.

Competition for jobs varies a lot. Many top companies like to see degrees AND experience but even then, abilities and proven experience can trump education level. I only have a B.S. degree with a lot of Master's level course work, but I frequently compete with the pHD's in certain areas. It's all about having the willpower and the confidence to assert your skills...without being a jerk IMO.

I took out a loan for 12K but it's a federal loan with low interest rate. I got 5K left to pay the sucker off. College is a huge investment and it pays of for some, others not so much. There's a teacher at my school who got her degree and credential from Stanford, which I personally don't think is necessary if you want to be a teacher. She owes almost 50K.

For me it's $200 minimum monthly payment to get rid of the debt in 7 years according to my plan. I don't know exactly what goes to interest but the rate is about 5% if I remember correctly. Gotta get those admin credentials to bump up the salary by a good chunk :head:
