So i got home from school last night and went to fire up my 3 week old $1200 lap top to do some homework. i un plugged it and took it to the table and tried to turn it on... nothing... no power... so i plugged it in(different wall jack)... now it wont even register power or turn on... so i calmly call the customer tech department for my 24 hour assistance i paid 250 extra for and go throug a couple troubleshooting preceadure... no luck... So i was told i need to send it in for repair..i asked the turn around time and they couldnt even give me a ball park... i then requested to speek to a mannager...who can by the way bearly speak english.....
Long story short i have no computer... all my schhol work and projects are on it and mid terms are next week... and the customer service department are all a bunch of as*holes...
so im gonna prob fail all my classes thisemester and they cant do anything about it even thoug it 3 weeks old??? wtf?
My job is customer tech/sercvice at the biggest supercharger manufacturer in the world....and if we screw up we help people... not tell them sorry your screwed......sorry for the .... but i feel like.. :saw:

so if you see someone going postal on the news in southern california at a circuit city... thats me... and they wouldnt help me either........

1. Remain calm as best you can and only escalate in tone / frustration slowly.

2. Think very carefully what your goal is and how to achieve it.

3. Use the words you need to to convey to the best of your ability to help them understand.

4. Lay it on thick, but remain calm "I"ve been an "x" computer user / buyer and all my family blah blah " brand loyalty speech

5. Don't bother talking to people who don't have the power to give you what you want though you may have to create a ticket first.

6. As this is a new laptop you may be able to go to the company who makes your laptop and escalate that way.

7. You should have a thirty day no hassle money back guarantee

8. I know HP has loaners for you to use depending on your service package / contract.

9. Keep escalating and write letters etc even talk about "so disappointed that you will have to talk to the BBB etc"

10. Did you put it on a credit card? extra warranty etc there

11. Did I mention be calm and don't give up ....know your goal!

12. Move quickly and let them know how truly let down you are because you "were" so happy with this company and alllllllllll the purchases you have made with them etc. If the think they're losing a customer for life stuff changes quickly.

Don't give up, and get cracking!

I know the problem, too much porn. Yup, happened to my... uh, friend once.:ntome:

I would be pissed off too so I know how you feel. Its only 3 weeks old?, that really sucks. Now that they have your laptop though don't let up on them. Call them everyday and ask where it is and what is going on. Tell them if your laptop is not in your hands in pristine condition within 1 week then you are making a complaint to the BBB. One more thing, don't ever go to Circuit City or Best Buy cause they will screw you every chance they get. There is an old thread about it here somewhere.

If it's a credit card, better yet, call the bank that issued the card and tell them to reverse payment on the charge. I have had to do this once in my 14 years of credit-card usage, on a $1400 refrigerator, that I ended up keeping for free. I would assume this might not work if you don't have a sterling credit history, however.

Another thing is to threaten to go to the local media, make up a story that your cousin works there or something. Name drop the name of a local reporter who is infamous for conjuring up scandal and negative publicity, mention that he or she is a relative or close friend.

Damn.... Thanks For The Support And Stratagie...haha... I Actuallly Went Back To Circuit City... Played The Whole Strugleing Student Card And They Gave Me A New One... The Mannager Was My Age And Was In School Him Self So He Was Way Cool....once I Said Mid Terms He Was Like No Problem...haha... F*ck The Manufacture Though... I Have Never Been Treated So Poorly By A Company.... The Funny Thing Is Customer Tech Support/warranty Is What I Do At My Work... I Tried To Be The Perfect Customer When I Called Them... Did Everything That I Like To See From A Customer....thank God For Cool People At The Store...on A Better Note They Didnt Have The Same One I Had... So They Gave Me One Model Up... 50gig More And A Slightly Faster Processer...so It All Worked Out Well....

glad it all worked out.

I used to work at Best Buy, they are a shady company. I'm sure Circuit City is the same way.

This is a note for anyone reading this: Those extended policies and warrenty are just bullshlt. Saw it all the time people coming back for replacements and they didn't read 'the fine print.'

If what you bought fcuks up, your shlt outta luck, if you buy a extended warrenty and it ****s up, your still shlt out of luck minus the money you wasted on that warrenty. Know what I'm saying ?

If you pay $1200 for a laptop, you deserve what you get...

My VAIO does me just right...

I would advise you to:

1. Learn a lesson here

2. Never buy from that manufacturer again ( HP / Compaq will never get another penny from me or anyone I can influence )

3. Write a letter to the chief of the company / Customer Support department + BBB - Just because it's fixed for you, try and help others not make the same mistake.

4. Rate it and the company on Epinions.com

5. Have fun and enjoy your new laptop.

Much Love,

Neoborn

Restore "important" work from backups, use public computers.
Next time buy 4 hour turn around from DELL (for my laptop this cost $400 per year).
Get a real backup plan and stop relying on other people, learn your **** it will serve you well.
I love pantera.

I agree with you about HP. Luckily I learned that with a used laptop I got for free.

back your important stuff up regularly, get an external hard drive with software that automatically does it for you,

EVERY SINGLE manufacture warranty is going to suck with turn around time......... It just happens ,too much volume to put your issues to the front of the line

you look at around 4 weeks usual time frame

there is no better quality computer for repair service unless they come out to you for repair.

Bestbuy has a good warranty service and most people dont read the contract that they buy... Its your OWN responsibilty to read what YOU are buying.

Cant speak about circuit city but Most extended service contracts are the same and usually run around 2 weeks TA time and if its a reputable company they service it themselves and not directly through the vendors service center.

VORTECH...BUT KEEP IT ON THE LOW...HAH.. IM TRYING TO AVOID THE POPARAZZI/GROUPIES...HAHA.. WELL MAYBE NOT THE GROUPIES...:toofunny:
