My Ark Project

Some of you may know of my interest in the Ark of the Covenant. Its the special "box" that God had Moses make to house the 10 commandments. I am making a replica of it. Its going to be a life-size model(actual size) of it. If you have seen the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. It will hopefully look identical to that when I am finished.

Below are some pictures of some of the pieces I have. The pieces shown other than the gold side panels are made of a resin material. The actual box part and lid will be made out of pine wood and other types of wood. The whole thing when built will be painted gold. I still have to get the carrying poles yet though. I have enough pieces for all 4 sides of the ark, I just didnt put them all in the photograph.

The first picture shows the pieces. They are the leaves for the lid molding, the mercy rail for the mercy seat, pine feet for the legs of the ark, side gold panels depicting the desert scene, and the 2 cherubs that sit atop the mercy seat. I had to take 2 pictures of the cherubs, those are my prize possession. The final pic is what I hope to have it look like when completed

Nice.

I played moses in a play in HS.

CROWLER

Can I ask "why"?

Just for kicks?

The ark was/is one of the most sacred items in all of Jewish History as well as Old Testament history.

PS-
The Bible is quite possibly more interesting than Indiana Jones regarding the Ark. ;) Check it out.

Oh, I know its very sacred. I am doing it for an instructional and evangelical piece for local churches.

Trust me, Im a Christian, I love the Bible. I am very interested in Bible prophecy and biblical archeaology. I am treating this model as if it were the real thing. I am taking super care of the pieces as I go along. To me, it represents God so I need to treat it as such.

According to the Bible's description of the Ark, I very well believe this could be what it looks like. The one in the movie was a great interpretation of it so I am going off of it.

Really interesting special on discovery last night... some very convincing arguments as to the existence of moses and they present some pretty convincing evidence of a piece of jewellery in Athens that represents the Ark.
Exodus : Decoded, was the name.
