I think party poker is the site with the most fish... there are just way too many people online for all of them to be good. My number one tip I give everyone who asks is just dont be afraid to lose. These people can be sniffed out and are typically who sharks take advantage of.

Yeah, I would say that party poker probably has the biggest suckers. One tip is to try and play the majority of your games on the weekends (if possible). You are more likely to encounter people just playing for fun and most likely not pros at it. Another good tip is to try and win one big hand an hour. Also, dont try bluffing to often, because online players are more likely to call all the way to the river.

Good luck!

Honestly, if you want to get good at poker, you need to study it. I've spent hours per day for the last 10 months to improve my game. Just as you read anabolicminds to improve your knowledge in weightlifting/diet ect, you should read a poker forum like 2+2 and study hands and ideas from the best players.

Don't fool yourself, right now your probably not a great player, but that comes with time. The best study is taking what you learn from better players and trying it at the tables. Experience is everything in poker.

I prefer to play live, but when I get the itch for a game, I play at PacificPoker. The Sit & Go's are very fishy.....

play with fake money either partypoker.com or pokerstars.net

both are good and enjoyable without having to play with real money or your life savings.

just dont get too hooked, else you might lose your house.

playing for fake money is not poker. the problem is , if you want to learn you absolutely have to play for money. people just dont play right when nothing's on the line.

To be a winner in online poker you have to sit and play the tables. Online forums and books are great for general knowlege but the situations presented in the books aren't always what your going to face at the table. If you asked a group of so called "pro's" what to do in a certian situation, all of them would have a different answer. This is because they have developed their own style that works for them. This is exactly what you need to do as well.

If your a poker novice then the online forums and books would provide a wealth of basic knowlege. This will get your foot in the door and lay a basic foundation. From there you will need to invest thousands of hours of table time to develop your own style and have the ability to adjust your game based on who you are playing with.

The big game right now for the masses is Texas Hold Em. I have several friends who are at the novice level and they contact me daily for advice regarding online play. The general mistakes I see from them are very loose play online, playing games bigger then thier bankrolls, and winning in a low blind game only to loose all of it at a higher blind level because they thought they were on a roll. Make no mistake that the level of gameplay at a $1/$2 table is far different from a $5/$10 table.

I don't regard myself as a world class player but I don't lose very often. While I love to play tournaments, I find my success is in the no limit cash games. I'm a third generation poker player and have been playing since I was a little boy. I prefer live games to online play but I dabble in both when time allows.

The style I like play with most often is what I like to call the "Backdoor Brawler" I play this style in no limit cash games with six or less people at the table. The concept behind it is to confuse your opponents and then bust them upside the head with an iron fist. Here's how it works. I make it a point to play terrible cards early in the game. I'm talking 2-9 offsuit and the like. I will only play them if I can get a flop cheap. I will play these cards to the river with me calling low bets only. If I catch a pair I will call small bets all the way to the river and make sure I show my cards to everyone.

The idea here is to lose the hand and show everyone how much of a fish I am. I do this up to three times before making my move. The idea behind this part is to build an image of myself as a very loose and newbie player that is an easy target.

Once I am certian that I have established this image I wait for the kill. Once I get a set of cards where I either have the nuts or what I'm certian to be the best hand I come over the top and break someone. The idea is to let the other player bet into you all the way to the river. Once he has made his river bet then I come over the top for what I know he will invest out of his stack to see who wins the showdown. It is at this point I make a large payday for myself.

The other great factors in this type of gameplay are usually at least one other player still considers you as being "loose" and will fall victim to the exact same setup. Also the person I already busted could be on tilt (if they remain in the game). This leads to a nice easy payday.

The above is just one of the many things I do while at a game. Everyone has thier own style or style's and if you want to profit from poker then you need to create yours. Good luck and hopefully this will help you a bit.

Anybody here play pot limit omaha? I've been crushing the PL50, and PL100 games lately. I've also been doing some hit and :run: at PL400 with much success. I think I could do well at PL400 regularly, but I'm nowhere near bankrolled for it. Soon...

I love Omaha. Not a big fan of hi/lo or Omaha 8.....I just like regular Omaha hi.

We usually deal this up to 50% of the time during our weekly card games.

good reads are anything by sklanky's, the whiney ***** i forget his name's book is ****. Caro's book of tells for anyoen who plays live, I just got action dan's first book. read a couple other's, will read more if job interview doesn't go through.

Good advice on playing on the weekends, get the 9-5's and for all you don't play during the work day, it's more pro's then fish a lot of time, but it is world event. Play nights and weekends, try not to bluff unless you don't have a choice, it's a numbers game, play only premium hands and play multiple tables at once if you good enough, or quick enough. ANd playing as many hands as you can and watching the pros helps. Tight aggressive, try not to call unless trapping, when myself or my pro friend is on fire it's usually raise or fold. And change gears, you can win 15 hands in a row and nobody will call you unless they have the nuts, but don't wait for a big hand with a reg hand and loss everything u just made. We'll that's my holdem book.

Good luck, and if your smart with these numbers, i just had a run at the casino playing black jack and quaded up my money 40 to 160 and high was 220 with 40 in tips. It just makes sense if you have a good risk management system in holdem.
