Bad Influence?

We had a discussion in English the other day on how the girls and dudes in hollywood and on magazines and what not are "bad influences"

My teacher started this conversation with a great one liner "I mean I saw a 12 year old in the gym the other day." I saw a 12 year old who weights 300 lbs eating ice cream the other day, whos under a "bad influence" there.

Then some girl says "Well what about the rest of us that dont look like that?" Was whats his name born with a 1000 lb bench? Did Coleman come out of his mom 300 lbs ripped? This might frighten some of us, but sometimes your actually have to WORK to get somewhere.

Spatch decided to enlighten the class. "Well you dont have to go to extremes, I mean if your eat right and exercise you will go a long way." Some kid sitting a few desks over said "yeah but thats gonna take time, dude." Apparently were having a school play entitled Capton Obvious Strikes Again, and hes got the lead rool.

This reminds me of a Dante Bichette interview on espn over the summer. In one part, he said he would tell his kids that some guys were on steroids. The problem is he probably didnt know that everyone he reported to his kids were actually juicing. The great lesson he tought his kid was that "Ok jr., anyone whos better then you must be cheating."

Well that about sums it up. People dont want to work for there goals, and those who are where they want to be are cheating and a bad influence.

My wife showed me an article today that stated the averge ht/wt of US women is 5'9" and 175lbs. The average dress size is 14. My wife is a size six and she is 6 months pregnant.

Studies show that high school athletes get better grades on average than non-student athletes. They manage time better and are more goal focused. Facts like this are endless, and I'm not sure if this is the real issue anyway.
