I'm going Army myself, havent left for Basic yet... but I'm getting my Option 40. Got BS problems with my record from a few years ago, so I'm waiting on a waiver before I go to MEPS. But I've been speaking with the state MEPS recruiter for the Army; and he is ready to give me anything for me to join. Was thinking of going as a Medical Specialist, etc. Unsure though. He said I can have anything I want.... scored a 97 AFQT in October. I'll be sure to get it in writing though :) What MOS did you get? Hit me up on AIM

There are forums out there specifically FOR army rangers and people interested; and for special forces as well. I learned a lot. Careful over there bro; they can get pissed real quick if you don't pay attention to the rules; those forums are very different than what you're probably used to.

RIP is supposed to be kinda tuff, but not so bad. THE REAL test is Ranger School. 61 days of Hell. Navy SEALS have it easy :) They get a hell week; but we'll be getting a Hell Season

After AIT you'll have Airborne school; then RIP... after RIP at some point and after chilling in the Ranger Batt for a while, you'll go to Ranger School. I also plan to have a "Statement of Intent" for Special Forces tryouts (and hopefully maybe even one day, Delta Force)

yeah but you can make it real easy to have them pick you if thats what you really want. its a cool job but its hard if you have a family. same with SF.

Well, you're talkin' to a younger guy who's been in since the age of 17.. Trust me, you can do flips and cartwheels for every piece of brass on Ft. Bragg, if Delta wants you, they'll let you know.. I've been thru alot of specialized training, one things for sure whoever they pick doesn't say a word about it.. You can't even ask where they're stationed, sounds like Tom Clancy type ****, but it's real..

Bragg is a big place.. It's rumored that Delta is located on a restricted area of the post, near the southern end by the waterfront.. ;)

I had fun during my time in. I failed the JumpSchool physical due to my right knee and my neck injury from RECONDO (recon commando course)..
The courses I did go thru:
Pathfinder
RECONDO
Air Assault
Infantry school
Armoured cavalry
and the not-so-badass Generator field mechanic.. :)

My last day of duty was the day we invaded Fagdad..

Air Assault is only 11 days, I took my course at Ft. Campbell KY.. They used to have the course at Ft. Stewart GA, made sense since most the units there were all certified.. First day you'll go thru a "Confidence Course" which is an obstacle course with really high structures you gotta climb, helps get over a fear of heights (worked for me!)..

Mostly classes on hand signals to manuver a copter, how to set up the rigs to carry supplies, and my favorite repelling out of BlackHawks!! :D

I know people in the SF Group out here. They have better and shorter deployments than anyone in the army and have more fun while they are here than any other unit. Just think, Beer PT. Oh and they have a little corner of the base all to themselves with the best fascilities on post.

Aside from that, one thing I learned about the army is that the coolest most badass jobs are the worst ones to have, unless you just happen to like spending six straight months going to the field and NTC before deploying for a year.

Don't know anything about that. It's nearly impossible to get any rank while in training so to go from e-nothing to an NCO without having anything but school seems bogus to me. You don't even know what a good or bad NCO is until you get some unit time under your belt, IMO. They are throwing rank around a little easier right now. PLDC isn't even mandatory anymore until you want your six.

Combat arms make rank fast, though. The rule of thumb is shitty job-easy rank, good job-slow rank. My wife's MOS is maxed on points for any level, and they can pretty much forget about E-8 unless they get stationed in DC. Watch the Ranger Challenge on the Military Channel sometime, there was like a 22 year old E-6 on there. It made me want to kill myself. The youngest 1st sgt in the army comes to my bar every weekend. Any guesses on his job?

my friend is a 91 kilo (lab tech).
he has it real easy but he`s been in almost 5 years and in not even close to getting E-5.
then i know this ADA guy who is 3 years in and is about to take his board for E5.
i just really want to make E-6 within 5 years. if i do ill prob stay in for a long time.
