I'm an Industrial Hygienist. Errrr, that's an Occupational and Environmental Health & Safety Professional. Working at a Biotechnology research lab. We do safety testing of bio- and traditional- pharmaceuticals as well as contract manufacturing of viral theraputics (gene therapy drugs and live virus vaccines).
Got a B.S. in Chemistry - graduated at the top of my class and got a couple of academic awards at graduation, many years ago. I think I minored in Partying, but that part's kinda fuzzy in my memory hehe. I was Pre-Med but medical school was not to be in my future. (Long story.) Went to Grad School majoring in Analytical Chem for a year, was bored to death, got engaged, and dropped out to start a family.
Working for my current employer more than 15 years, I started out with 2 years in QA, auditing and inspecting scientific studies and reports of the results thereof. Then switched to EH&S/Industrial Hygiene. Have testified several times before government regulatory agencies and been appointed by the Governor to a local government council where I use my skills and knowledge in public service as I represent the industry.
Whoopdee-do! I'm just me. Single father, working my butt off to make a living and care for my family and myself. Quite intelligent by comparison to the average guy, but it doesn't impress me, so I don't use it to impress others, usually.
