My beef with my gym
For some reason, my gym seems to get more and more "girly" (says with deep, german voice) every day
1) They seem to be playing more and more Mariah Carey every time I go in there
2) The 125-150 lb dumbells have been in the state of "oh, there on order sir" for the past year
3) The scale doesn't read anythign over 200 lbs. What are the chances someone over 200 lbs is gonna be at a gym?
Next thing I know, I'm gonna come in to find the walls painted pink.

Cheap, easy solution to problem #1...
As for the other... just about everyone could complain about something(s) at their gym. Just accept it and do your best with what's at your disposal... or change gyms.
My biggest beef at my gym... guys on cell phones HUGELY EXCESSIVELY. Especially Nextel/Boost and that freakin' beep. Good thing I have that solution to #1 on hand...

Many gyms dissapoint me, my expectations have been lowered to just making sure people don't hog the equipment while talking to their friends

I hear ya, been a member of a powerhouse for the last 7 yrs, they just changed the name to Clubfit (GIVE ME A BREAK) and cater to the new era of girly girls, and senoir citizens. Before anyone makes a comment I have nothing against the above 2, but also cater to the bodybuilders/powerlifters as well.
RIP Ryan, :(

Have no complaint with my gym. Maybe I’m partial cause I work there part-time. It's in a small town, but a great place, with some darn good equipment. Hammer strength…squat racks…bands..chains. Almost acquired a monolift. That would have been cool . Totally Powerlifter /Bodybuilder friendly. Thick padding on the floor, you can put your weights on the floor for deadlifts, use all the chalk you want…ect…ect. Hell, I’m the one who cleans the stuff up…lol…don’t mind at all…shows someone actually did some heavy lifting. We actually have several competitive powerlifters who train there regularly. When I’m working I’ll even put their CD’s in if they want…killer sound system, I might add. Well, my husband and I just recently visited a Gold’s while out of town on vacation. This place was a joke. Wasn’t Gold’s the mecca of BB? What the hell happened? It was like a day spa in there…I think they had Enya playing on the sound system. Geeze. Patiently waited 15 minutes for the only squat rack. This guy was in there set up doing bicep curls , with just the bar, no joke. All the women are just standing around on their cell phones or on the cardio equipment. Some talking on the phones while on the cardio equipment. Looking at me like I was some kind of freak…and what is she doing over there with the free weights. So we are doing our squats minding our own business and this annoying woman comes over and says to me. “It’s really not good for a woman squat with a lot of weight like that. It will give you a big butt and a thick waist.” I was thinking...who the hell asked for your opinion...bitch...but I just grinned real big then turned around and ignore her. Couldn't wait to get back to my little no-name gym so I could grab those heavy weights...flex...grunt... and throw some chalk around...like the freak I am

There are several women at my gym but typically this is their workout routine:
Talk 30 minutes
Cardio 30 minutes
Sit on fitness ball 5 minutes
Talk 30 more minutes
Exit gym (wondering why they are still out of shape)

Yeah, it's impossible to find a gym with platforms and bumper plates.

To an extent. You should be able to have one with you incase theres an emergency, say your kid is at school and needs to go home. You shouldnt be able to chat all day on them, though.Originally Posted by az2u
