If you apply for a job, try not to hang up on anyone you think is a telemarketer for a month or so. I'm doing some recruiting right now for one of my company's clients, and more than half the people who actually apply for the damn jobs we post just hang up on you when you try to call them. Sometimes you even get the company name out, and you'd think they'd remember that they applied for a job there and at least stay on the damn phone long enough to see what the call is about. Nope.
Also, some random but often ignored advice. Run a grammar and spelling check on your resume. Nothing is more annoying or off-putting than a sloppy resume, regardless of a person's experience. And organize the thing. I don't know a recruiter that actually gives a **** how it's organized, what's towards the top and bottom and all that. Just group it so it's readable and all the info is accessible. The crap some people put out there as there resume is ridiculous. No one seems to know the difference between its and it's, to and too, and they're, their and there.
Sorry. I'm the only one working late today and needed to spew.
