I am going to start student teaching in January. I am certified in secondary social studies. I want to teach high school, but my professors that taught in secondary schools say that I would make a great middle school teacher. Middle school kids are going through puberty, physically and emotional changes, starting to find who they are, and where they belong among their peers. Basically, I have the impression that teaching middle school kids would be ten times harder than high school. If anyone here teaches high school or middle school, could you give your experience on the two different levels and perhaps compare them if you have experience in both settings?
