It’s time to comment on ATF’s disastrous proposed rulemaking | The Law Office of John Pierce, Esq.

Some may know about this already but here it is anyway. For any gun lovers or even those that don't own guns but don't want to infringe on other's rights to own them. The BATF is proposing a rule change in how you can go about registering any NFA class 3 goodies. A suppressor, full auto, or SBR or any other items that require a $200 tax stamp from the federales. Currently you can register said item in an Nfa trust as opposed to you individually. There are many hoops an individual must go through to get approval beyond just the normal background check. Plus, if your brother wants to borrow your suppressor or such, he can't if be isn't the registered owner. If you have a trust set up with him and any others you want in it, any of those people can have possession of said item. The final item an individual must get is the approval of their Chief LeO in the city they live in. Most times that CLeo refuses to sign off on anyone getting any kind of class 3 item even if applicant passes the background check. This leads to a defacto ban in many areas, even though the BaTF says its legal. The trust eliminates this need for CLEO approval.

Any way the proposed rule change is to do away with the ability to use an NFA trust to register class 3 items. The public comment period ends on Dec 9. At the bottom of the article is the link to send your comment to them. Take a minute and send one, make sure your spouse, kids, pets etc send one also if you feel inclined. They all get a say when dems vote in elections, so they should now also. Spread the word.
