NFL is turning into flag football and even canceled a game do to snow....everybody needs to be politically correct are your labeled an extremest, and in New Hampshire schools are banning Dodge Ball a sport our own school teachers used to pelt the crap out of 5th graders.
Dodgeball Removed From Windham, NH Schools « CBS Boston

Im talking to a guy in the gym (an loyal Obama voter) the other day and he comes out in disgust and compares the NFL to the barbaric Roman Empire just because he read some article in Newsweek about concussions.

Anyone here have noticed a serious propel in the trend of wussyfication of our society since Obama took office?

There were a crapton of emo kids my first semester of undergrad (Spring '03) and that was long before all but Illinois had heard of Obama, dodgeball has been slowly disappearing for decades, the NFL is pursuing safety because of billion dollar lawsuits, etc. Meanwhile, boxing and MMA buy rates are still extremely high. How do you explain that?

Ok, so your vote is for no I guess, lol

My NFL example as a complaint isnt so much that the NFL is pursuing safety because of lawsuits. Its more so people I run into think sports such as NFL, boxing and mma are barbaric...Ive never seen so much negativity to people freedoms to engage in the sports of their choice as Ive seen in the past.

Maybe its just me since Ive opened myself up more politically than ever before and just notice it more than the past.

Speaking of MMA, damn I miss the 90's and those first UFC's.

lol....

So what do you think anyways?
That America voted a man in who did what he said he was going to do and the majority was appalled by it, yet voted or by their lack of vote kept the man in.
One day America will learn that elections have consequences.

The US has been going through the pussification process for the past 60 years. It started with men and women having equal rights in the work place. Over time the idea "women can do anything just as good as a men" turned into " men are just women with penises", so we must have the same emotions, so instead of taking little jimmy out to kill his first deer, we took him to dance camp and told him he could grow up to be a beautiful butterfly.

Then we have the problem, that the current coming to adulthood group (20-30) have all been raised by our hippie pothead parents who tell us we need to explore life, don't be responsible. Add to that our consumeristic, instant gratification society and you have a bunch of whinny babies who have never experienced a hard days work in there life. Even if we still had the manufacturing infrastructure of a few decades ago no one would want to work in it.

There's about a hundred more things I can think of that are contributing to our country going down the drain. I myself really don't see why government is concerning itself with the dangerousness of a sports game. Other then to distract us to the fact that were going to go into debt another 2 trillion dollars this year. They want to take my ability to protect my family away from me. They want to make me pay for a 400# mans health insurance, because its not his fault it's genetics( stop jamming pizza into your own mouth fat a$$).

Basically the modern world is turning into an ultra sensitive society where every little thing needs to be examined to see if it offends someone. I just read 2 articles the other day from the UK, one stating that triangular pancakes are band because there pointy, and the other talking about banning kids from having best friends.

There is no specific set of criteria that defines a man, nor should there be, and men and women should have equal rights in the workplace.

Here is the thing though, Obama is butting his business in the NFL in support of the changes and encourages it. He has done so publicly.

So he isn't allowed to have an opinion on something?

I think you ate confusing with instituting a policy mandating something with have a view and opinion on something.

Of course he can say what he wants....he is a president and has a heavy influence on millions of people. Im justified to point out that his opinion contributes to wussification of society...which is my own opinion of course :)

The wealthy %1 want to remain capitalists to maintain wealth, power and control while turning the working class, lower/middle class into a socialist type society where we just merely survive under their control with extremely limited possibility of reaching the top and/or more importantly having a voice against willful infringement upon our constitutional rights whenever it benefits them....

Put society in debt, hell put the whole country in debt so everybody has more pressing personal survival issues to tend to while the "powers that be" operate with impunity while breaking moral and legal laws in order to achieve their agenda. Since nobody has the time or energy after trying to keep food on their tables, bills barely paid and a roof barely overhead to fight back then it should be pretty easy to take ultimate control. Oh yes they'll throw us an occasional bone during the most painful parts so we won't bite but its no skin of their noses. they know how bad we need that bone to chew on so itll shut the majority of us up for a bit while they so their deeds.

Our rights and our order of society was written long ago and should not have been tampered with but it is as well as our ability and our rights to fight back anybody who tried to take them from us.

I'm not the greatest at writing but hopefully you understand my sentiment.

Political interests influence the decisions of major sports on occasion. Problem lays in Washington (and local politicians) as well, especially when it comes to government expanding its granny state.

If this was directed toward my post then I agree with half of you statement yes men and women should have equal rights. But I disagree with you on saying there is no set criteria for being a man. That's part of the reason we have the problems we do today with under age pregnancy and single parent families. Most males now and day don't understand what responsibility is, once a difficult situation is set in front of them society just say "your a kid you cant handle it just quit".

I hear you. However responsibility, morality, value systems aren't specific any one gender type.

I really wish you would apply the skepticism you demonstrate towards supplements toward our government. For some reason you are able to discern between a casual relationship between supplement x and perceived results and effects but when it comes to politics then all of a supldden the same kind of casual relationship transforms into a definitvie connection suggesting a cause and effect relationship.

Just an observation

NFL and goverment are financially connected, so I cant help but to point out there is a definitive connection. The league has internal lobbyists (NFL being the top spending of all sports) that address issues with our goverment drug testing, gambling, as well as player safety. It's totally connected.
