Hey Bobybuilders, PLANET FITNESS is on the attack again

Their advertising campaign has always portrayed the big guys as ''meat heads'' and basically idiots.

I have been flagging their posts on their facebook page as OFFENSIVE,

To report them, type in Planet Fitness in your facebook toolbar, it should bring up their page, on the lower left hand side is a report button. You can report their individual posts too.

For a judgement free zone they sure do a lot of judging.

They also have FREE pizza on mondays and FREE tootsie rolls. Lol more like planet FATness.

I got banned off their page for raising hell but I say pour it on keep those fools panicking to remove comments that expose them for the fraudulent franchise they are.

LOL, I just heard a pretty aggressive commercial on the radio.....They're for fat people to go to a place where they can feel good about themselves, and not really do much in terms of fitness, so its easy for planet fatness to keep long term and loyal customers, LOL

I wanna run into one and tell everyone they're fat, gorss, and will never be attractive in society, LOL

Good job guys, glad to see some really intelligent posts being made on their wall, I alerted BB.com as well though I was banned for inciting a small uprising.

Kind sad when a bodybuilding forum won't even stand up for itself, emasculated suckers.

Its bad enough being a big guy nowadays, now you have PF demonizing bodybuilding, and they are suppose to be on our side!

This is great, From now on, if anybody asks me or I see anything pertaining to planet fatness, I will dissuade ANYBODY I know from joining that (reverse) discrimination hell hole.

"If you commonly refer to steroids as.......breakfast, Planet Fitness is not your gym" lol

Well, I am not going to lie that is kind of funny.... Ill have eggs d-boledict, androjelly on my toast, and heavy on the winny in my water, thanks...

But seriously, their campaign is offensive as hell to anyone who has 16 inch arms or better, since most of America starts to cry once you hit this level. You know all this does is further villify us. Sad.

I agree with what you are saying. Many of us go to the gym to deal with stressors of our normal lives, so why make the gym a stressor too? Screw them and let them have thier yuppie following. You hurt them more by not going. I refuse to be "offended" by anything because EVERYONE in this kinder, gentler, world is offended by something. Where I'm from and the way I grew up we suck it up and take it out on the iron instead of throwing the "offended card" out there. This politically correct world **** has to end. The only problem is that bodybuilders aren't a legally protected class so there is no legitimate wrong being done by Planet of the Loser's Fitness.

powerlifters and bodybuilders, or anyone who really pushes themselves consistantly in the gym are the kinds of people that gyms dont make money on......... most chain gyms focus their marketing toward the old, fat, inexperienced lifters that sign up and for a year... workout for a month... then give up and never step foot back in... they basically make all their busniess off the people who never get to the gym.... plus a fat old woman probably gets a bit intimidated/scared sh*tless when someone shooting a g of test a week is throwing dumbells and screaming at his lifting partner.

Good points guys, but their marketing campaign should not be at the expense of bodybuilders, they could market their product in a non offensive way.

Yes, old women are afraid big men shooting a g/wk but thats why they have curves :)

At least curves markets what they are, a place for bigger women to workout in peace.

Im all against political correctness, but this is a gym, attacking a certain pinnacle level of what a gym is to accomplish. Its not politically incorrect, it is just plain retarded.

Could you imagine, honda's advertising campaign being something like ''Not everyone wants to drive a nice car like a Lamborghini or Ferrari, thats why we have a new low price and low quality model coming out where you dont have to worry about being judged by other car drivers"

The PF in my area has a sign over the dumb bell area basically saying anyone who is serious about getting big is a meat head. I went there one time because of the low price and the fact that it's down the block and the dumbells didn't even go past 60 lol. This place is reserved for old people or the guys who go to a gym to do nothing but cardio. I don't let their ad campaign get to me, we have other gyms that accept us and are much better facilities.

They are just catering to the yuppie losers that they "think" will keep them in business.
exactly, how do they expect to stay in business when most of their customers will only workout for the first 3 weeks of their new years resolution. Meanwhile, if they allowed actual weightlifters in they would probably quadruple their profit.

Most places make a lot of money off people that dont even show up. Especially places where they have people sign long contracts that r a pain in the ass to get out of.

I just saw some Planet Fitness commercials a user posted on another thread about a bodybuilding sitcom. What a bunch of morons.

Of course there are some mindless, dimwitted guys who are massive, but to randomly label ALL bodybuilders as such is just PURE ENVY.

Seriously, I mean, I'm not a bodybuilder, hell I'm not even big, I just work out and even I get stupid comments by other people who have never lifted a barbel in their life.

If I were a really massive guy though, I'd just **** with them! Seriously! I'd get another 4-5 of my most massive bodybuilder buddies, sign up to the nearest PF and go their just to make EVERYONE else there feel small and inferior.

See how well that does for their business. Before you know it, the only people there will be massive guys and guys who want to be massive.

I saw this commercial the other day. [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FGZvFZdVbk"]YouTube - Funny Bodybuilder Planet Fitness commercial[/nomedia]
I don't really know why your so upset though. I laughed. It's a good marketing scheme as I have worked in gyms for years and a lot of woman say "I don't wanna bulk up and look like a bodybuilder"... So it's appealing to them. It's a cheap price but I don't go there because they don't have enough equipment. If your a single guy there's tons of chicks in there. It's like when everyone in highschool made fun of the male cheerleader when he always had a date at the end of the week. LOL.

i do understand why some find it offensive ..however i actually find the commercial funny..actually i laugh everytime i see it....im not huge but after working as a personal trainer for years i did see a lot of this and to me i can find the humor in it..

If you get offended by it than your just as bad as planet fitness. I laughed at it. You have to admit its pretty funny. I didn't even know about the commercials till I saw them on that other thread about a bodybuilding sitcom. I'm sick of this PC bulls hit. You're offended- get over it!. Just don't join the gym if you don't like it.

I couldnt agree more! So what! Dont go then! I dont understand why people are getting bent outta shape over this...who cares. Find a place where you fit in, and obviously its not at PF. You wouldnt go to a big and tall store for clothes if your 5' 2" and weigh 160lbs and say they are descriminating would you? Go elsewhere!

I don't know where you guys are getting this "all bent out of shape" and "overly-pc" vibe from. I myself have stated that a) I'm NOT a bodybuilder, and b) I'm not even big, I just work out regularly.

So don't mistake common DECENCY and sense of REASON for over-reacting. Instead think of it this way; if the commercial was making a negative stereotype of fat people, or women, would it have ever seen the light of day?

Hell no. So while I don't care if this commercial, and others like it air 24/7 on every channel, what does offend me is the DOUBLE STANDARD involved, in which people are made fun of in a VERY MEAN way and no one raises any objections to it.

Wouldn't it have been a much better commercial if they showed some massive guy looking around the gym for 45-50kg dumbbells only to be told that they only go as high as 20kg?

Or perhaps have them try to use a shower that was way too small for them because it's specifically designed for people who don't weight-train?

Think of it for a moment, and see where most people (myself included) are coming from.

As I said, these commercials don't offend me on a personal level, but more on a social level (if I can use that analogy) as I live in a society where different groups of people can selectively be made fun of, instead of EVERYONE.

And even if I could make fun of fat people, I wouldn't, you know why? Because 9 out of 10 times it's tacky, cheap, under-the-belt and juvenile in nature.

And this is exactly what these commercials are; nothing but a mean-spirited attempt at putting others down, probably due to feelings of inferiority and envy.

agree... you guys should LOVE planet fitness. Think of it this way.. if all the people who dont really want to workout and want to go to a gym and socialze all go to planet fitness this will free up space at your gym and this way you can go squat without the worry of some kid in the power rack BB curling

From personal experience I have to say that this happens very rarely.

These places are infamous for offering cheap prices and group deals for fixed 12-18 month contracts and because people do feel guilty about not going, you end up having a gym that's totally empty during work hours, and then COMPLETELY packed from 5-6pm till closing. It's not the same people every time, but when a place has space for only say 50 people to work out simultaneously, yet sees it fit to contract 200 people, then you will get too many people in at the same time, 5 out of the 7 days each week.

This means that if you have a regular 9-5 job, you end up waiting in line behind other douchebags that go in groups of 2-3 only to talk about unrelated **** and just slow the whole sharing machines/weights down.

I'd love to see a commercial about locking slackers out of the gym while they mindlessly go on about their stupid Ipods and designer clothes.

I wanna wish they go bankrupt....but then those people will end up in my gym.

I thought the commercial was actually funny. It just reminded me of the movie Dodge Ball with the line "here at Globo Gym we're better than you and we know it".

I think we should organize a huge campaign of educated, intelligent, degree-holding fitness enthusiasts, bodybuilders, powerlifters and the like to either go to one of their more popular facilities or corporate headquarters.

We'll take pictures of all the fat-asses and worthless people, tell them how pathetic and stupid they are, give them fake syringes labeled "insulin" and baggies that say "A Friend In Need, with Diabetes Indeed."

Shove our degrees in their face. Grunt as loud as we can. All carry gallon jugs and eating an apple.

The problem being that that movie is satire while these commercials are actually saying that.

I'm not for PC anything. I don't think it should be taken off the air. But it would be fun to organize something to show how worthless fat people are and say how they don't belong at OUR gyms, even if that's not the case. Just a taste of their own medicine kind of thing. We see countless lawsuits being made by fat slobs for discrimination, why can't we have some fun of our own? - I'm not talking lawsuit, just a huge gathering to put this place to shame.

they're creating stereotypes and breeding ignorance.. everyone who knows nothing of fitness and bodybuilding reads that.. says to themselves "i'm not big and I don't like to work hard, that makes me feel good about myself" and then will never see results. Everyone is entitled to fitness goals or lack there-of... we put up with a bunch of pseudo-intelligent, self-serving bull**** from organizations that are supposed to be helping us with our health goals (pharma companies, fda, etc.) and we sit back and watch as America eats and lazes itself into a coma without condemning anyone, chalking it up to their own personal choices. So why should we have to put up with flack from a company chastising us for doing the RIGHT thing through self-improvement when if any Joe Shmo off the street came to ask us a legitimate question about fitness we would more than happily assist them and oblige. If they want to ostracize the only people that are willing to help them with their goals, so be it.

A person could save a lot of money with a free profile on AM and a notebook of questions he wants answered by people who legitimately care about their goals, not someone reinforcing groupthink and stereotypes.

I understand where you're coming from. I think the commercials while being funny, are in poor taste and take on a self defeating tone. I don't take it that seriously, doesn't move me one way or the other. You can cast disapproval by deciding where to spend your money. I think the lunkhead alarm is absolutely idiotic. I have no issues with obese or overweight people either for that matter. I don't disapprove of them or anyone else. I worry about myself, family and close friends. I'm not sure what the point of this gym is, seems like we're all being punked and Ashton Kutcher is gonna jump out of a broom closet, unfortunately this gym is real lol.

But I'm all for jokes. Some of my friends who are overweight I like to refer to them as "precious"...if you've ever seen the movie.

I wonder if they give free passes. Can I get kicked out durring my first workout. We ought tp have a contest to see who can get kicked out the fastest.
