I'm just curious as to what motivates most of you guys to hit the gym (or work out in general). I'm not looking for you guys to really come on here and just say "motivation come from within brah - you either got it or you don't!!!" over and over....
Some people (probably most people on here) enjoy working out and would rather do that than just about anything else. And I got that. But the majority of our society needs that extra "boost" to get their ass in gear. Some take preworkouts that get your blood pumping and motivate you to get out and lift or run. Some have a specific song list that motivates them. Some are sick of how they feel and/or look and THAT motivates them to change. That kind of goes hand-in-hand with people who get more motivated by positive results.
As I talk to more people about this I realize that the majority of Americans have let computers, video games, movies and TV shows take a front seat to getting out and being active. Personally, I have a workout partner ("battle buddy" for the other Army Folk) that has been a gym rat since he was 12-13. Not to mention we kinda HAVE to work out, considering we have to pass a PT test. One big motivator there is the fact that we can actually witness our PT Scores going up, and that's a HUGE factor in getting our ass back to the gym over and over.
The fact of the matter is I'm a single dad of 2 young kids and I'm also a SGT in the Army - so I have other soldiers to take care of even after the work day is over. It gets hard to self motivate at times - but I found what works for me. And yes, sometimes taking my Mesomorph is the ONLY thing that helps me change into gym clothes and get my ass in gear.
So what motivates you? If you just love working out, what's your favorite thing about it?
