I made the same comment. They look like the love-child of a white perch and large mouth bass.

    ^^^LOL. Very true.

I felt like I had to make up for this weekend, so I went fishing for about an hour today. I stopped by Walmart and pieced together my own "beetle spin." No monsters, but still fun to pull in on a homemade jig!

    Second cast of the day:

Nice to see a normal Bass come out of the water. I was half expecting to see a mutated swordfish or something when I saw you updated the thread.

I've been fishing a lot lately. It's but it's been at night though and the pix never turn out right. The speck are hitting alright now.

Ice fishing sounds like a drinking sport

I'm going fishing Christmas morning, but there will not be any ice nor drinking involved, lol.

    Thanks.

I think I've had more fun than I've actually had success. I've been waiting to pull in a nice four or five pound Large Mouth. I might have to wait til the spring now. It's getting cold and not much is hitting the artificial baits right now.

I don't care though. I just like pulling stuff in. I also like catching different types of fish, so I'm constantly playing around with different rigs, jigs, and baits.

Just make sure you bring some type of protection like a AK-47 with some of the stuff Stxnas pulls out of those waters.

I can't believe you've never seen a garfish, I thought those things lived everywhere. You can leave them on land for like 6 hours and they won't die.

I suppose they have these everywhere also. This looks like a overgrown piranha!!!

I have one of those also. They hand engraved "Sportster" on the side to get around the assault riffle ban.

mine was actually bought pre-ban. I could have gotten an ak, but for 2.5-3x the price it didn't seem worthwhile

Yeah the AK's are expensive, I got the mak90 for $160 new, at a gun show. I never tried to shoot a fish with it, but it sure will blow the hell out of turtles.

Well, I hate the fact that we've turned Stxnas' fishing tread into a gun battle but, one last thing. We build oil and gas production equipment here. We have a lot of steel shells made of some pretty hard material, SA 516Gr.70 is common. I shot at a piece 1 1/2" thick at a 45 angle with my mak90 and it gouged about a 1/2" deep into that plate. I also shot clean through a 14" diameter pine tree.

Alright, so I had a pretty fun week fishing last week. No monsters, but I caught quite the variety. I'll post some pix up later this week.

Friday after work I caught what I'm told is a Rockbass (not a Rockfish) and a small Large Mouth Bass. On Saturday I caught probably close to two dozen Grey Snappers, a Red Grouper, a Sea Bass, and a Dogfish.

Wait til I find my card reader and upload the pic of the dogfish. The first thing I thought when I caught it was, "I'm not touching that." Then I thought, "I can't wait to show this to Don!"

I went fishing this morning, but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. "Frogs are good bass bait" I thought to myself.

Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth, I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.
Just then, I realized I had a problem, how was I going to release the snake without getting bit? So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. The snakes eyes rolled back and he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge at my foot. There was that same snake with two more frogs in his mouth.
Life is good in the South.
