Question about getting a tat.

Im thinking about getting a tattoo, and dont know where to get it at. Im gonna be getting a tattoo of the San Francisco Skyline, like a gloomy, dark looking tattoo.

But I was thinking since I lift, will it become a problem. First off I wanted to get it on my forearm, but then I heard it might be a problem with getting a job. Then was thinking inner bicep, but since I plan on putting another 2 inches on my arm, seems like that would distort the look of that tattoo. What would be a good place to get it, that I wouldnt have to worry about it getting messed up becuase of gaining more mass, or does it not matter?

a tattoo always=regret later IMO. Is it really necessary?

But if you are putting on mass, or you expect your body to grow a lot from the gym in general, it could stretch it/distort it depending on location. Every one I know with a tattoo says they wish they didn't get it. You will be just as cool without it :) But good luck if you get it, I hope it goes will and you like it.

I think most places will inevitably see stretching and distortion over time. But the tattoo path is different for every individual. Some people are 80 with a tat that looks as good as it was at 20, and some people are 30 with a tat they got while 20 and it looks like a mutated birthmark.

cute girls with the lil tattoos about their rear ends end up looking like a dirt bike drove across their lower back 10 years later....

I have 2 tattoos and I don't regret them, but they are personalized. I got mine on my shoulders so that I can hide them anytime I don't want someone to see them (ie employers). Upper back also works. I got one of my tattoos 40lbs ago and it still looks just as good w/o distortion.

My only suggestion, sit back and think about it for a couple of months and make sure it's what you want and then if you want it, go out and find a good artist and don't find the cheepest guy.

I have 7 tattoos, including a half sleeve...I am also on the hiring committee for one of the largest petroleum companies in the US....I can honestly say this, and I know its hypocritical, that I will judge you based on appearance. I would advise against any tattoo that is visible unless you are firmly in a career and unlikely to be making any changes...Yes, tattoos are more acceptable now than ever, but dont kid yourself and think that even those of us who have them dont still stereotype others with them....

There's nothing worst to me than seeing a young female stunner at the beach, pool, lake, wherever, in a bikini with a tramp stamp tattoo that looks like pinstriping off a latino lowrider.

A have a buddy from Hawaii who has a full body tattoo from his chest down to his ankles. It's part of his heritage and tells a story. It took 126 hours to do. I find this acceptable.

If you really want to represent San Fran that badly then go ahead and do it. Don't forget Alcatraz.

By the way, before anybody thinks I'm bashing Latinos...

I love you Vida Guerra and your big beautiful BOOTY.

i have two. one i got on a whim when i was in the army and i've regretted it since i got it. silly tribal thing with a sword - should have got a chaos tattoo instead. the other, came to me one day when i was 17. when i was 25, i finally decided to get it. it was highly personalized, and came out perfectly. at 31 i never regret getting it done. make sure

1 - it means something
2 - nobody else has the same one
3 - you can hide it
4 - after thinking about it for a year, you still like the idea.

If you are going to get a skyline it probably should be big enough so that you know what it is... I'd recommend looking at getting it on your back. IMO you won't have any trouble if it's on your back.

If it doesn't have a real, significant, and deep meaning to you, and you're not 100% positive about what exactly you want done, where on your body you are going to get it, and who is going to do the work, don't do it. This is not a piercing that will close up if you take it out. It is not a haircut that will grow back. It will be with you for life.

I don't have any tattoos, but I have been toying with the idea of a specific tattoo for the past 4 years. I've had various sketches made up for me, but have yet to have EXACTLY WHAT I WANT drawn up. And until that happens... No tat for me. :)

Don't listen to people that say you will regret it. As mentioned before, if it has significance to you, you will always love it. I've got one on the inside of my bicep that has my family clan motto. I'm proud of it everytime I see it.

I understand not likeing the tramp stamps, but I couldn't think of anything hotter than a cute chick that can pull off a sleeve.

I have to say I can find some girls with tattoos attractive even though I am christian, but its rare....none of which are a pinstriped rear....

I have several tats all mean something, but having just been hired at a hospital, I can tell you, make sure they are hidden, it does make a difference....A few weeks ago my boss was walking behind me and i had my hair up, he saw my sysmbol on the back of my neck and I knew he saw it, he never said anything but being a professional I know never wear my hair up.........

As you can see in my Avi I have one on my arm. I got it when I was 18 and weighed about 140. It did not distort at all. Unfortunately, I am one of the people who regrets getting it.

Another question, how long would I have to take off lifting, I finally know what I want, im gonna get a tat on my inner bicep. So how much time off lifting would I have to take?

until it doesn't hurt anymore? Maybe a week at most.

You don't have to take any time off. Nor should you. This is mine, and I went to the gym the next day. I believe I hit arms, too.
