Hide Thread suggestion

A lot of times I click on the "What's New?" button. New threads are listed but also old ones again and again that I have no interest in viewing. Is there a way to make it so I can hide these threads that I have no interest in reading?. Also wondering if there would be a way to hide threads similarly in world icon area. I may make a post in a thread but then not have much more interest in it after it pops up the fifteenth time over there. The only way I can stop this behavior now is to post in thread that interests me and then just delete the post later. Sure I could just ignore these things but I thought this may be a good suggestion for new features?.
