I know that a lot of the things I read say "you can't/won't bulk" from weight lifting as a girl...but I've seen some bulky looking weight lifters that are girls-not the steroid type of look but like a female shot-putter type of look, if you know what I mean? Is this just dependent upon the person and how they build muscle, or is it due to not having a low body fat percentage?
When I was in high school, I definitely had a "bulkier" look--I was more like 135lbs as opposed to 120lbs now, and I probably had more muscle, particularly in my lower body because I was a competitive soccer player, but it was NOT an attractive female look in my opinion. I remember dresses just not looking good on me because my arms and back were kind of thicker, etc. It could have been a combination of having more fat AND muscle than I do now. I know I ate way too many carbs back then, since I was young and sold on the "only eat low fat" stuff thing. I have a fear of looking like that again since I'm quite short and it's pretty easy for me to start looking bigger with the smallest amount of size added.
So My post is hoping for some feedback to explain why some girls DO look bulky...and help me feel like that won't happen to me...or what to do to ASSURE that doesnt happen?
I'm only about 2 weeks into my new weight training/ HIIT cardio style of working out.
