    Effects of Variations of the Bench Press Exercise on the EMG Activity of Five Shoulder Muscles

    Seems closer grip bench press is better for the upper portion of the pecs.
    Although it still seems incline DB bench is whats good for upper pecs.

    Whats funny is this was published 1995.


  2. many people including myself have relied of supine (flat) bench press for years with little upper pec development. since adding incline presses into the routine my chest has filled out to a great degree.

  3. If you look back to the "old school" training styles, upper chest development was done on the flat bench, by bringing the bar down towards the neck, as opposed to the nip-line.
