anyone experience this???

i use the hook grip for ALL of my barbell pulling exercises; i reason that it's a better alternative to straps.

i get an extremely tight grip and better leverage using it. i can never get the straps tight enough so that i feel like enough hand surface-area is on the bar.

suggestions?

i'm thinking i'll have to give up the hook grip and go traditional: maybe work on my crush strength with some grippers.
