easily winded

Ok, this is a bit embarrassing to say, but sometimes I get winded doing to most simple ****.

Like a minute ago I half ran down the stairs to check some things on the grill and while flipping them I noticed I was panting and had to take a few deep breathes.

Now, I'm not saying this happens all of the time but often I find myself in this situation doing the most mundane tasks.

I do cardio 20-30 min. a week 2-3 days per week on top of riding my bike around town, playing ultimate frisbee, etc and I never really find myself as winded doing these activities as when I do something like running into the house from the driveway to grab a bottle of water.

What gives?

What does your diet look like? Are you eating alot of foods high in cholesterol? What you eat plays a major role on your heart functions.

Can be a load of different reasons for shortness of breath. Sometimes sudden bursts of activity can cause the body to overcompensate. If you lead a sedentary life for most of the week minus the cardio you mentioned. That can still leave you unconditioned. Nutrient deficiencies can be a factor. Bouts of minor asethma. Certain supps will cause it. Dehydration can cause it.

Man, I hate to admit it but I've been on a "bulk" for around 8 weeks and it hasnt been the cleanest. I take fishies and a decent mult/mineral supp and stay really active.

Suggestions? I've never had any blood work done so maybe that is something I should look into. I just get anxious everytime I think about what they might find. Yeah, I'm a hypochondriac......seriously.

SEE A DOCTOR! Not to alarm you too much but if you're in OK shape and find yourself getting winded out of the blue, it could be a symptom of a serious health problem (ex. congestive heart failure)....or it could be an alergic reaction to something....or it could be adult-onset asthma....or any number of things. See a doctor soon (if you have a consulting nurse available, call and describe your symptoms and get their opinion).

make sure you note any other symptoms prior to going in because if you are ok when they see you then you'll most likely be coming back for another visit. If you notice sluggishness. CHF usually comes with swollen extremities. And the heart failure isn't that so much as the heart is working at a less efficient strength.

Like I said earlier, I'm a hypochondriac. I almost passed out when I read those posts. LOL.

It's strange. I recently had an episode a few months ago which I thought was a stroke or heart attack but turned out to be an anxiety attack coupled with a compressed diaphram after crouching in the fetal possition too fast which then caused me to black out and then had a paliptation to ice the cake.

The doctors were almost laughing at me(which really was comforting given my nature) when I insisted that they bring in a specialist and run an EKG. After my doc checked me out and told me that I just needed to calm down and relax, I told him only after he assured me my heart was fine.

They brought a specialist in, he ran an EKG, rubbed my shoulder, smirked and said to stop wasting his time.

I recently moved from the midwest to southern Idaho and I think maybe I have some region specific allergies. I know my moms have been acting up lately. WHo knows.

Cya guys. Thaks for your concern

Out of curiousity..

What's your:

Age
Weight
Height
and approx body fat%

Hasn't been asked and thought I would check.

I am 5'6 176 14% and 24 and I started breathing heavy on a fast paced 20 yard jog to the park... I feel like a goliath stomping around.. I'm fine doing cardio on the eliptical at 60-70% MHR.

Sounds like anxiety to me. I'm the same way. I don't get winded when working out but If I run up stairs or do something simple like carrying a tv. Its funny because it makes it appear to people that I'm struggling sometimes with simple task. Its funny when people ask **** like do you smoke?lol

Hey guys, just wanted to say that I'm fine(if you care) and last night was just one of those times when my mind had too much idle time.

It's strange, I never used to be like this. But lately I just get so worked up about things. One minute I'm on cloud 9 then before I know it I'm climbing out from the bottom of a barrel. Anxiety is a Mother Fuhker. I feel I'm having a mid-lifes crisis at 23!

Aside: If you guys have never heard of the band Agalloch, check them out.
