Finding a shirt that fits right!

I've run into a problem this past year. I never used PH's up until late 2004. I have always been in a medium shirt up until the beginning of last summer. I then moved into a large... A couple months ago noticed them starting to bunch up under my arm pits. Now I'm in a X-large and they fit great but they are so damn long. I like to wear my shirts outside my pants.... Anyone else have this problem?... Can you get shirts that fit the V-shape of your body that aren't as long?... I have a 47" chest and a 32" waist..

:icon_lol: LOL..quite complaining and learn to hem your dress..
I wish I had your problem...I am close to 47" waist and 32" chest.

edited to let him know this was a joke. No offense.

I am barrel chested with a small waiste and have the same problem as you, but I can still fit in a medium. Abercrombie has some athletic fit shirts that have the V-taper to them. Also, you might try the cheaper places like American Eagle or Hollister, if you can stand the crowd. Amazingly, the graphic shirts from JC Penny's also tend to fit well around the waiste and they aren't too tight around the chest; however, you might have to drop down a shirt size.

Edit:  I just realized that you are 40, so you should try the premium fitted dress shirts from the Gap.

Your kidding about the 47"waist and 32" chest right? If not , no offense.... The wife is laughing at both your jokes.

I don't ever buy stuff from Abercrombie, they are waaaayyyyy too overpriced. But I'm a cheapass and if it isn't free it's too much...lol.

Ya I spend waayyy too much on close.

Lately abercrombie's prices have been spiraling out of control. For example a lot of their new sweat shirts are $120

Brook's Brothers offers varying sleeve & neck sizes on a variety of shirts.

I have the same problem, 44"chest, 31" waist, 5'6.5"-5'7". Sleeves and shirtail length are always my problem.

Custom shirts will be the way to go after my next cycle. there is an old thread about this lurking somewhere with a link to a cuctom shirt manufacturer, ~$70 per shirt.

This hole damn hobby/sport is damn expensive. I spend $50.00 in 5 days just eating at work when bulking, not to mention what I eat at home... Buying new things for my home gym all the time.... New cloths, supplements, protein bars and whey... The list goes on.$$$$$$$$$$

Don't feel bad young lad....I have this problem as well. I also have a hard time fitting my ass into anything other than sweats. What I've found is that if you want a button up shirt, go with one that is fitted....but has stretch to it (7 of diamonds, INC...etc). Shirts you just have to keep your eyes open and act like a chick when it comes to shopping. No more are the days of grab and go shopping if you continue to lift.
For pants, I've found that the low rise jeans are actually pretty easy to fit into. But again you have to try them on to see if you can get your legs into them. One rule of thumb that I have while trying on clothes...if your calves do not make it past the crotch.....don't pull any harder or you'll lose your boys. Girls can get away with this as they've already lost their boys :D

I know what you mean about the shirts in XL being REALLY long. They also are so wide in the waist area you have to wrap yourself like a mummy and even then you look like you are fat even when you are not.

Off topic but thought I would add, I can get away with spending just $6 a day and that is with 450 grams of protein and a total of 4500 cals.

PLEASE let me know how you do this.
And don't tell me to invest in a gun and buy $6 worth of bullets to shoot a cow with. :icon_lol:

oops I lied. It is more like $5 a day.

Actually I am very lazy when it comes to food and don't like to figure and refigure so I eat basically the same thing every day. I also do not like to prepare anything so I just eat it all raw no cooking

When I did work in an office I would just bring a dozen eggs, 4 cans of tuna, oatmeal and splenda.

Ok so this is what I eat each day. Pretty much the same the same every day.

2 doz large whole eggs $1.80

5 cans of tuna in oil $2.25

12 servings of Oatmeal $1.20

DAMN I am cheap :)

I have to admit though one day a week I eat pizza, icecream, Little Debbies, chips etc etc etc

Hey I am bulking and I can if I want to

Why anyone with any muscle would wear that skinny-boy crap (Abercrombie) is just sad.. All my shirts are large cotton/lycra, and the vintage cut button-ups at Old Navy not only taper to a small waist (hidden brag) but they're damn inexpensive and last really long!

Hey Big Pete,

I don't know what sort of shirts you are talking about. Where can you get them?

Thanks

Cotton/Lycra shirts? I go to the Jockey outlet and get them, real cheap.. Sometimes I get the Champion version from target, 2 for like $8.. I even have afew of the Under Armour stretch tees, not the Heat Gear but the basic tees at a sporting goods store for $19.. Mrs. Fox got me 2 of each color for Xmas.. ;)

I have to admitt when it comes to clothes I am clueless. But now I am getting some bulk on my old stand by polo shirts in XL make me look fat because of all the extra material around the waist of the shirt.

So you are talking about button down shirts or pullover type?

DAMN IT Big Pete help a brother out and give me a freaking link or picutre :)

Target doesn't have the C9 tees online, but if I remember I can snap a pic wearing one.. Those shirts at OldNavy taper in towards the waist, no over-hang when you tuck 'em..

Thanks man,

Yea I appreciate if ya snap a picg with ya wearing a shirt. Those naked ones ya keep emailing me are starting to freak me out.

Yea I said STARTING TO, so what?????????? ;)

OK I take that back. They are out of XL in every color. Maybe that is a sign I need to bulk some more HA HA

I just checked their size chart and according to it I should actually take an XXL and pretty darn close to an XXXL Hard to believe. Hey Big Pete what size do you get and does it hold true to their sizing chart?

It says 50" chest and 18" neck is XXL. I usually wear large and XL then again I usually just wear T shirts so maybe that is why.

You could always keep some extra igf for yourself, you know.. ;)

I get a large mainly because I like the shirt to fit close abit.. I've been thru my saggin' jeans/baggy sweatshirt phase when I was young, I'm done with that and I'm in better shape.. :D

That is odd they make XXL to fit 50" chest/18" neck.. My neck is 18" but my chest is only 48.5", so XL might be my limit.. Yeah, I wear tees alot and me and the misses plan to move to a state where I can wear tees yearly!

Amen. I'm not sure when I bought clothes somewhere else besides Old Navy or Kohl's. But, I set behind a computer all day and no one cares what I look like.
I would spend more on clothes but it cuts into my supplement budget.

How so? Bobo diet = no money:wtf:

I have a 52" chest and I ususally get my shirts from pacsun(XXL). Eddie Bauer usually has good choices for larger sizes and better cuts but the prices are so much more expensive. If you want something that is athletic cut for button down shirts JC Penny is usually a good pick. I hate shopping for clothes. It sucks for me cause I am really long waisted and I wear a XXL so I usually have to get them in talls. It sucks being big and on a budget sometimes.

Womens clothing

You guys think you've got problems, imagine being a female who lifts and try to find clothes that fit. All the shirts have these skinny little arm holes made for stick women. If I can get my arms and shoulders to fit then it hangs on my torso like a tent! So I have to buy men's shirts sometimes. And pants? #$*&@% designers! Who was the brilliant designer who came up with the idea that all the pants should be low rise, but none of the shirts long enough to tuck in? Where is the logic in this when most of us don't want to see the average females gut hanging over the top of her low rise jeans!
And then there's the sizing. Womens sizing has no continuity or sense to it. When I was 115 pounds 25 years ago I wore a size 6 pants. I went shopping yesterday and wound up buying a size 4, and I weigh 151 pounds now. And it varies from label to label. Sonabitch. It makes it impossible to shop on line.
Arrrrggghhh! Now see, ya got me started....grumble....mutherf*ckers...kill em all...

I recieved a Gift certificate to American Eagle for christmas. The store had extra small shirts and no X Large. Xsmall shirts is A sure sign that the store caters to the Gay community...

Just want to toss in my thanks for all your input and this thread. I've been having this problem for some time now: buying shirts that fit perfectly up top but they pack so much extra fabric around the waist region of end up looking like I'm 9 months pregnant :hammer:

Well I took up BigPete's advice and payed a visit to Old Navy today. Finally I have some XL shirts that fit my body well! I bought several shirts, some boxers, other ****, and my total cost was under $100! That's about the cost individual shirts I used to buy and they didn't fit me around the midsection near as well. I deffinately should have stumbled into this store earlier, could've been saving more money for more supps $$$
