Hip Pains when Squatting?

  1. Hip Pains when Squatting?

Basically my workout buddy has health insurance but he's being a moron and doesn't want to go see a chiropactor or doctor to get it checked.

Apparently it's been bugging him for about 3 weeks now.

He says he feels some sort of pain/clicking on the outer portion of his hips when he does squats.

Pain only shows up when he's down at the bottom range of motion with his quads parallel to the ground and he's starting his upward motion.

He's been doing squats on a machine instead and it doesn't seem to bother him. He weighs about 165lbs and notices pain even when just squatting a 40lb bar with 10lb plates on each side (60lbs total).

    Any ideas?

Also, what would be considered an average amount of weight for a skinny 135lb dude to be squatting?

  2. Ok, about your first question for your friend. I would highly suggest going to see a chiropractor or sports medicine doctor. Not much any of us can do.

  3. Well he should go and see a specialist.

Anything happen leading up to this? Maybe the fascia tissue around the hips and hip flexor's is really tight.

If I don't use my foam roll a couple times a week to squeeze out that tension, I pay.

Word. Exactly what I was going to say. Start at the calf and work your way up.

  7. Sure thing, hope he gets it straightened out. Never fun having nagging injuries to slow you down
