What type of fast digesting sugar should i put in a post

workout protein and creatine monohydrate mixture?

powdered, cane, or what? i was using gatoraide mix but its

frutose corn syrup

check out wax mazy starch or dextrose.

I personally prefer wax mazy starch; dextrose can cause bloating.

Just to play the devil's advocate, there's another school of thinking that says you don't need to have high GI-carbs PWO. I would recommend checking out some of Alan Aragon's stuff to get a better idea about this.

Personally I've moved away from shakes and more towards a whole-foods approach and didn't notice any negative impact on my training/performance. Just my experience :) There's always 2 sides to a coin.

The human body is such an interesting machine...it's amazing how differently people react to things!

I've tried getting away from shakes too, but I personally like a post workout shake to ensure that my body is getting the nutrients it wants directly after workout. I use whey, WMS, and creatine.

but, in the situation from the OP don't you want to have something as a delivery for the creatine?

Lately I've been drinking a dextrose shake of about 50-60g, and then a 50g whey shake. Then an hour later I eat a good sized meal with a complete protein source and some complex carbohydrates. As far as I can tell, it does the trick. You could also look into adding NAC. There are some studies showing that it slows down muscle catabolism, which is something you have to watch for after you've just done an intense workout. That's one reason why getting your post-workout nutrition in ASAP is a good idea, among other good reasons.

Find out what different people are doing for post-workout meals, then try a few out, and see what gives you the best results.

I just ordered a big bag of maltodextrin for my post workout.

What do you all think about maltodextrin compared to

dextrose.

In the new musclemag there is an article that says to take

protein, glucose, and creatine in the midmorning, post

workout, and before bed. I figured taking glucose before bed

would make you fat. I have always had a protein shake or

cottage cheese with peanutbutter before bed. Their studys

show that this works though and they have a way of figureing

out your exact protein carbs and creatine for each shake

using your bodyweight. Im considering trying this for atleast a

short time. What do you all think?

I try and make sure that whatever I eat before bed is SLOOOOW digesting stuff...casein, complex carbs, etc....
