Weight training routine

Hello, I was told by a college professor that working muscle groups once per week won't get the job done. He told me to work out every other day doing all muscle groups. He also told me that by doing one set per muscle group you get 80% of your value, 2 sets 15% and 3 sets 5%. So I only do 2 sets. Is this a good routine????

it's certainly not bad. he's saying to do a three-day a week full-body routine. i think you would fare best with 2x12 of each exercise, alternating the next week to 3x6. only take one minute's rest between two exercises. i did this before. it was not bad:

bench
pullups

military press
pulldowns

hammer curls
pushdowns

squats
s.l. deads

situps (these to failure)
leg raises (same)

*the key is to get the most out of each two sets. really use good form and really contract and use full range of motion. try it. whatcha got to lose?!

I eat Champions for breakfast. I wash em' down and out with river water and trees, you know, for the fiber.

oh yeah, i forgot, the grounds for this exercise style are:

1. good recovery
2. not over-training
3. hormonal upshot
4. metabolic upshot

theres a million and 1 ways to build muscle and i guess thats one of them but if he thinks thats the only way then hes a simple minded fool. i work out each muscle group just once per week and have seen really good results.

I've always seen everyone work out one body part once per week, maybe twice but never all 3 days a week. Is there any reason why working once per week would be better than this??

Yea you can hit a muscle group and give it a full week to recover before starting the process all over again. What was his reasoning for this?

Snuggles it's just a full body workout. You can do this and build muscle but your volume for each body part will just be decreased compared to the high volume you need for each body part once a week.

yea its a good start

but after awhile you will need to hit each body part harder with more variety and volume.
