How many calories do YOU bulk on?

  1. How many calories do YOU bulk on?

    'Sup fellas,

I'm 6'1 180lbs. I'm trying to get up to about 195lbs then cut to 190lbs.

I've been bulking on 4000 calories, but damn thats a lot of food. I stocked up at Sam's Club though so I'm ready.

I know its different for everyone. I know we all vary depending on our lifestyles and metabolism.....

but how many calories do you guys bulk on? Just trying to get a general idea.

  2. I ate way over 4000 when I was bulking. More like 6-8000

  3. Im generally around 5000 calories, however my metabolism isnt the fastest so i try to eat as clean as possible even while bulking

  4. Damn you guys must be monsters...nice. Yeah I guess I just gotta get used to the food. I'm dirting it up a little though since I got a fast metabolism, that helps me get in more calories without worrying about getting too fat.

  5. like 3000-3400 depending on supplements im on

  6. im on 3500 for a recomp rite now, in order for me to bulk i have to be well over 4000

  7. i must have the slowest metabolism at 195 lol

  8. I have to eat 5-6000 to bulk. I have a fast metabolism.

Thanks for tbe replies. Eating ground beef patties seems to be a great way to get those calories in. Milk has been great too. I was trying to get 'em in on steak and chicken alone so in order to hit my mark i had to eat a lot of food which bloated me. Its a good now though

  10. I eat above 4000, constantly..

How long do you bulk before you figure out that you need to up/down your calories?

Im at 4k and want to know when to re-evaluate.

I used to go as high as 4500-5000 cals for a bulk, but now I stick more in the 3500-4000 range for a slower leaner bulk.

You should re-evaluate every 5lbs you go up.

Right but what I mean is....lets say I stay at 4k cals and I dont gain a pound after a week, should I give it another week or bump up the cals at that point?

Yeah, definitely if you've gone a week flat on gains, its time to bump moderately significantly, particularly if you are on some sort of gear. No sense wasting it. If you are 100% natural, realistically .5lb/week of lean mass is about all you can add, so one week with no gains isn't quite long enough.

  16. over 4300/day. get fat pretty quick at 5K/day. keeping in the zone of 4300 to 4500 is good for a few lbs a month.

I hear you. I'm natural at the moment so I'll give it some time. I got a bottle of M-drol but I just finished pct on m14add so Im taking time to recover. That cycle went to waste since my cals were **** while on it. I only gained 3lbs after pct.

  18. People's bodies are different, when it comes to bulking, so you have to find what works for you. I was stuck at 185 for a while and finally started growing when I limited the amount of time in the gym. Bump up the calories and make the workouts count... heavy weight/ low reps and only 2-3 times a week.

  19. I bulk on 3500 kcal,but im only 140 lbs

  20. Man...I bulk on about 2700-3200...yall are some eaters, lol.

Interesting concept. I train 4 days a week, and only do low reps (3-5) the first week of the month. The rest of the weeks im at 6-8 and 12-15. Like a cycle. I wonder if cuttig my gym time will help my gains

  22. From what I understand, you grow when you rest. It is very easy to overtrain and put your body into a stressful state. I used to work out 4-5 times a week and wondered why I never could put on any weight, even though I was eating like a horse.
You got to take breaks every now and then and let your body grow. My intake of calories varies between 2500-3000 depending on how active I am. I work full time and am in school full time but still maintain a very rigorous workout routine. High protein and carbs with a combination of isolated exercise and full body routines are what I shoot for. You got to mix it up and you have to rest.

  23. 6500ish on a bulk

    4500-5000 while cutting

  24. depends on the day, depends on my mood, depends on my training schedule, depends on my hunger levels, depends on my sleep the night before....

too many factors, i never count calories anymore, whether bulking or cutting.

Listen to your body and you wont need to ask any questions, it will tell you what it needs

Ok. But 4 days a week hardly leads to overtraining to the point where you won't make gains. Right?

Depends on your workout but probably not. If all 4 are full body and all to failure then yes. But even working out for 1 hr. 5x a week still gives plenty of rest time if its a well laid out split

  27. Im going from training 5 days a week to a 3 day split and from ~3500 calories a day to around 4500. Hoping to gain 10 solid pounds naturally before I even consider a cycle. I'll let you know how it works out I just started 3 days ago and I feel bigger already (mostly in the stomach) but I have yet to hit the gym and weigh myself yet.

Btw Im 21 and my metabolism is insane and weight fluctuates all over the place.
