Avant Research SuperCarb™ FAQ

What is SuperCarb? -- SuperCarb is a carbohydrate supplement which contains a constituent of sugar cane with a very low Glycemic Index value.

Is SuperCarb a complex carbohydrate? -- No, SuperCarb is actually a sugar, but it is metabolized more like a complex carb than regular sugar with regard to its rate of absorption.

What is the GI of SuperCarb? -- SuperCarb has a GI of ~32.

But I thought SuperCarb was a sugar. How can a sugar have such a low GI? -- While SuperCarb is indeed a sugar, it has a much slower rate of hydrolysis than traditional sugars such as Sucrose, thus giving it its unique metabolic traits. Since SuperCarb is metabolized differently than most refined sugars and carbs, it does not spike insulin and blood sugar levels like the latter do. While avoiding these spikes, SuperCarb is also providing your body with a sustained supply of glucose and fructose for a longer-lasting energy without a subsequent energy crash.

Who can benefit from using SuperCarb? -- SuperCarb has many uses for everybody from elite athletes to the average dieter. Specifically, SuperCarb is very beneficial for performance/endurance athletes, lean bulkers, dieters, as well as health conscious bakers.

How can I use SuperCarb? --

SuperCarb can be utilized for many different purposes. One favorite way to implement SuperCarb is by using it for pre/intra/post-workout nutrition. By taking SuperCarb an hour or two before a workout, you will be providing a steady source of glucose and fructose to help fuel your workout without weighing you down with a full stomach. Another option is using SuperCarb as an intra/post-workout drink by pairing it with a faster absorbing carbohydrate such as Waxy Maize Starch, Dextrose, or Maltodextrin in a 50/50 ratio. Add your choice of EAAs, BCAAs, or whey protein and you're all set. Both of these suggestions will help aid in muscular endurance, energy, as well as recovery.

For those who have a hard time getting enough calories and carbohydrates down while attempting to bulk but still want to limit the fat gain, SuperCarb is perfect. SuperCarb is an excellent carb source which can be used to substitute the usual high glycemic Maltodextrin in homemade meal replacement powders and weight gainer shakes. To add even more quality calories to MRPs or weight gainers, combine your favorite protein powder and SuperCarb with a serving or two of Avant Labs' SesaLean (while it's still available) or Enova (diacyglycerol oil).
SuperCarb is also great for enhancing athletic performance. For an in depth explanation of SuperCarb's uses in athletic performance, read Rodja's blog found here: SuperCarb's Uses in Athletic Performance | Avant Research
On top of all of these uses, SuperCarb can also be used as a sugar replacement in just about anything, including baking. For great recipes using SuperCarb, check out our SuperCarb Baking Contest threads here:

There’s no scoop in my container. What is the serving size for SuperCarb? -- One Tablespoon of SuperCarb is equivalent to 11.2 grams CHO. Providing the normal 4 kcal/gram, one serving of SuperCarb comes out to be about 45 kcal.

Why can I only use 50g at a time and 200g of SuperCarb max per day? -- Studies have shown that, up to this range, SuperCarb is well-tolerated and is unlikely to cause any intestinal discomfort. This does not mean that above this range it is dangerous; we are being somewhat conservative with our official dosage recommendations. In fact, according to consumer feedback, some have gone well over the 50g mark in one serving with no problems at all.

What does SuperCarb taste like? -- SuperCarb has the same bulk, texture, and taste as Sucrose but is only roughly half as sweet. It mixes easily into drinks of any flavor without altering it aside from the increased sweetness.

Can SuperCarb cause tooth decay similar to Dextrose? -- Actually, the ingredient in SuperCarb has been found to be noncariogenic, meaning it doesn’t significantly contribute to tooth decay as Dextrose does.

Awesome, now where can I buy this perfect carbohydrate? -- You can find SuperCarb for sale right now at everyone’s favorite Planet. SuperCarb (2.5 lb) By: Avant Research
