I just want to post here before all of the new guys see this thread and blow it up with a million pages of rumors. In the end we can all blame it on Mace because he is obviously in control of most consumers imaginations these days.

What does that mean when someone says their allergic to sulfur? Are we talking elemental sulfur or just any and every sulfur containing compound? Because there's a some essential body processes involving sulfur (Or so I'm lead to believe). It's really just a matter of where the sulfur ends up that makes someone allergic to it.

I guess that is a good question that I dont have the answer to. I was once prescribed a sulfur based antibiotic and went into breathing troubles within an hour.

The doctor then began to ask me lots of questions and one was about wine. Did I have any problems drinking wine? Well whenever I would drink red wine I would turn red, possibly itch after a few glasses. The doctor then went on to say that it is the sulfites and I am allergic to sulfur based substances. After that experience I never really questioned it.

I don't know the pharmacokinetics of epistane, but it may or may not cause your allergic reactions.

Sulfites are SO3 ions with a negative 2 charge, so unless the sulfur gets stripped from the steroid ring and hooks up with 3 oxygens it won't create sulfites.

Keep in mind that I'm not a doctor and by no means should anything I say count as any such advice. I just know a thing or two about chemistry.

Interesting. Let me find out the name of the antibiotic I took tomorrow. We can then compare it to Epi. I remember him saying it is a powerful antibiotic that is the most common sulfur based type prescribed.

I have actually wanted to try Epistane for a while. I have just stayed away. If we can figure this out , I talk to my doc, and have an ambulance standing by after my first dose (j/k)....SWEET!

Cotrimoxazole, a combination of sulphamethoxazole (a sulphur compound) and trimethoprim (which is not sulphur based).
