| Registered User | Isolate from ATW Versus competitor Hello, I am curious why ATW Whey Isolate is a different consistency than someone elses Isolate. They are both CF but the ATW is more fluffy while the other brand is more sandy. Reason I ask is because it takes a bigger scoop for the ATW protein to match gram for gram versus the other brand. Thx. By the way on my last order with ATW they gave me a free oatmeal raisin protein cookie and it was delicous. |

Doughboy - isolate should be fluffy....not sandy. It should be pretty electostatic. I have never seen sandy isolate. If you are getting some isolate that is not, then I would question it.

They are a competitor of mine here in Canada. I plan on having their protein (concentrate and isolate's) tested. I don't believe what they are selling. I have samples for concentrate (82%) and isolate (92+%) sitting here from about 10 different protein suppliers and NONE of them have that gritty, sand-like texture which leads me to believe the quality of the protein they are selling is substandard OR, it's not instantized like they claim it is.

FWIW....I had the same lactose reation to their isolate as I did the concentrate. I do not have that reaction with ATW isolate. ![]()

I'm saying their protein (concentrate especially) is very grainy and gritty. A sand-like texture to it when you mix it. Worked with several different suppliers of protein and never have I come across a gritty and grainy sand-like texture. Something is off. I want to find out why it's so grainy and gritty. That's all.

Listen, I am not sure what the problem is besides us being competitors, but some of your tactics towards us are down right bad business and extremely unethical. I am sure there might be some bitterness, when we were in discussions for you running the trueproteincanada.com site and it didn’t work out, Aaron business is business and that’s all it was. We went with someone else for business reasons, not because you’re a bad guy. We felt Mike, could focus more on what we were trying to accomplish, we just felt your other businesses dealing with internet marketing etc. would take up too much time. We liked the idea of Mike being able to give us 100%. As well, I thought you would understand the reasons when you asked us a few times if we could sell our flavors to you and we declined, we just felt it would have been better to keep that ours since we were going to become competitors. All this turns into is a he said, she said pissing match. So you get one of our products tested, a) it comes back perfect, do you tell everyone or not because that doesn't prove your point, b) our stuff comes back and tests out to be saw dust, and of course you tell everyone about it. Who’s to say you didn't send off saw dust to some "lab" and marked it as True Protein’s... Aaron come on now, how and when did you become the supplement police around here. No offense and I honestly wish you the best with your endeavors in Canada, but we have been around a lot longer than you and we are proud of our track record. Why in the hell would we ever sabotage our name or business with a substandard product... Come on Aaron you know the business obviously, you know the difference in price between a high quality WPC and a low quality WPC is nominal, why would we purchase a crap material for a cent cheaper per lb. Do you think we would put our business at risk to make an extra $5 dollars per month; you have to be kidding me. I’ll give you a word of warning and a bit of advice... Mike (owner) over at 1fast400.com (great company and Mike is a great guy by the way, and I have no problem saying that even though he is competition, just because I respect who he is in the industry, a stand up guy) had a site about a year ago called labelclaimstesting.com... He basically had to shut the site down because of lawsuits. I really do appreciate what he did as in testing because there are a few unscrupulous characters out in the industry. But overall, the logistics of creating a site like that do not work. Who’s to say the product sent to the lab was really the said product, who’s to say it was handled properly or who’s to say the lab procedures where correct, there are so many variables it is unreal and in turn really don’t mean much. Let me ask you a question, and again this is no cut towards you at all, the test is only as good as the rep of the “company or “individual testing the product, who made Aaron the trust worthy guy in the equation. Umm hello you are our competitor testing our products… do you see the problem in this equation, yeah let me trust you with testing our product, like you have no preconceived underlying intentions. Oh and you telling an open forum message board that you will not show the results because of obvious reasons (you’re a business man you understand the laws of slander I am sure), but say, I will give the results to someone else to show, is self incriminating. Why not just post it yourself; hell it is pretty much the same thing, what’s the difference… quote: “Not likely. But I have have someone else post it J. Aaron we have been in business for almost 3 years with well over 10,000 different customers and I have heard every complaint in the book, hey we all get them its part of the business. But not once have I ever heard anyone ever say our WPC or any of our WPI’s were sandy or gritty. Have I heard that about some of our casein products, sure it’s the nature of the product, but I am sure you already knew that. As well, sandy or grittiness can come from any number of additives, flavor, sweetener, vit/min powder, aminogen, etc. These are all additive we add to our protein at the request of our customers, can some of it settle, it sure can, but does that mean the protein is substandard, absolutely not… Aaron, I know where you obtain your whey’s from, don’t you think I would rather buy my whey’s for my Canadian distributorship from “there too, so I wouldn’t have to pay importation cost, tax cost, and brokerage cost. We tried “them out and I will be the bigger man here and not say anything bad about them, but we made the decision to use our current US supplier, which by the way is probably the largest and highest quality whey producer in the country. Again, and I have said this from the beginning to not only you but anyone else, we have every COA for every product we offer and we are more than happy to send scans of them to anyone that wants to see them. We have offered this from the start years ago. Aaron, Dante and I have been around for quite a long time in this industry, we understand how it works. We understand business competition; it’s the name of the game. You are our competitor, but that’s about it… There is plenty of room for all of us, but I don’t think you see it. Personally I like competition, because in the end the customers benefit, lower prices and higher quality product, as us companies are always striving to provide a better product or lower prices to the next guy. It keeps us on our toes and not lazy. Let me ask you a question, have you ever seen us ever talk bad about any other company in the market, no… We are above that, and not to mention we respect many of our competitors. Hell, Dave (owner) over at proteincustomizer.com/bsl is our direct competition or was, but I probably speak/email Dave once ever week or so. I can’t even count how many times I have forwarded customers over to 1fast400 / bulknutrition for supplement we don’t carry or supplements we are currently out of. It all comes around in the end, Aaron. Again, if all of this effort is because you are unhappy the way Dante and I have treated the situation with us not selecting you for running tpcanada, I greatly apologize. And I would be more than happy to take this discussion off the boards to discuss any issues or problems that you have with us. Dante and I are reasonable human beings and would rather be your competition where we are both trying to help the industry, not kick the legs out of it. Aaron please feel free to contact either me tpc@trueprotein.com or dante@trueprotein.com Thanks, Doug
