Isolate vs. Blend.

Just wondering, is the only difference between these two products the 2 extra grams of protein and one fewer carb in the isolate? Or is the isolate more bioavailable or faster absorbing?

Just trying to decide if i should "graduate" to isolate or stay with my cheap blend :)

I think that there are fewer carbs in the isolate because most of the filler (i.e. Lactose) have been taken out, leaving mostly protein. The isolate is a bit more bioavailable and faster absorbing because it's only protein. Also, if you have issues with lactose, the isolate would be a better choice because it's been almost completely removed. This is just what I've gathered, I'm sure that Laura or Maura would be able to give you a much more concise answer than I can. Hope this helps a bit.

I could not have answered it better myself. The 20/30 was produced as a "diluted" brand - it makes it cheaper and is used by post op patients as meal replacers. The isolate is a highly filtered product.

Laura - DONT FORGET MY WEEKEND BULK SALE - Sales have been good, but they could be better!!!!!!!

Enjoy this beautiful day - me, after getting off this computer, I am gardening with my boy.

Stay with the blend. The only reason you should switch is if your having problems with digestion. Isolate doesn't absorb any faster than concentrate. Concentrate has a BV score of 100 which is the highest. So logically you can't go higher than that. The only difference is the isolate protein is more processed because of the removal of the lactose and fat. Get most of your protein from real food, and supplement with the blend. Its the best deal, don't spend the extra money unless your really having problems with gas and bloating.

I agree - It is ALWAYS best to get as much of your protein from REAL food....Everything that I have learned about my job has been by listening to the logical experts on these boards...Personal success speaks volumes -

Why does the Isolate mix so much better than the blend?

Beats me, but I have had a very easy time digesting the isolate....woohoo!!

I get Isolate when i get sick of concentrate and absolutely can't take anymore. Doesn't happen too often, but flavored isolate is like coolaid, If only it was cheap.
