ALRI Industries & Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals merge (link provided)

Hi-Tech is a bizzare company to say the least. From constantly getting caught spiking supplements to getting raided by the DEA because of Ephedrine, Hi-Tech has had quite the storied existance thus far. I didn't mention the best part, their President and CEO Jared Wheat. Just find a few long articles on that guy and you've got entertainment for days. You can't make half of that s.hit up!

ALRI, owned by Scott Jensen a.k.a L. Rea, have had their share or troubles too (though nowhere near what Hi-Tech has had). One product, Venom Hyperdrive, was found to contain high amounts of the (former) diet drug Sibutramine. The other was Jungle Warfare, which I believe was marketed as non-hormonal but in fact was hormonally spiked with the steroid 6-dmt.

What does everybody think about this? I've tried products form both companies that I thought were excellent (one of which I knew was spiked even before I purchased it, lol...). ALRI's stuff is even more expensive than Hi-Tech products, so that's a bit of a bummer.

Neither company has a very good reputation amongst their peers. Especially Hi-Tech. ALRI not as bad, but they don't have the cleanest track record either.

All of that says a TON, because we all know the amount of hatred within the supplement community one company or guru has for another one (and in many cases ALL of the other ones).

Anybody that's interested I'll post the link. The merger went down Jan. 1. The thoughts of anyone that may know how this will impact the industry are also welcomed (paging PA).

Hi-Tech is a huge company and L. Rea is one of the "supplement guys" that knows his stuff and is innovative. If I had a top-10 list for supplement gurus he would definately be on it.

First time I've ever come across that blogger. Is it someone that's controversial or has a bad reputation in the industry?

Frankly I'm suprised he's able to sell much of it (or any of his other products for that matter). His stuff is just way overpriced. Maybe it's a marketing angle, but it isn't getting my business. He's got a few products that look like they have potential but I'm not forking over $75 for any supplement that's a 30-day supply (pro-hormones maybe, but they're gone now).
As far as the protein goes I'd probably never try it anyway. Optimum 100% Whey (Gold Standard now) has treated me well for many years and probably will for many more years to come.

Does Hi Tech make Dorian Yates + APS supplements?

A unusually high amount of failed drug tests because of their pre workouts. All for traces of amphetamine.

humapro has become a staple for me over the last year or so....it's a great product, not sure anyone should consider it a protein source but to supplement with ur normal protein powder is a nice addition

I never understood the vitriol and holier than thou attitude so many took toward them. Few spiked products? Happens ALOT more than people care to admit, they just got caught. Prices are the bigger problem to me. Oh well, let the free market do its thing.

spiked products are more common than people think i am finding out. some big companies even. makes me sick. i cant compete with that. what difference does it make to work my ass off to get something legit out when others just take the easy road and sneak synthetic crap into their products

What can be done to stop this and at the same time not destroy the industry?

What I am referring to is all I've read on the FDA and the money it takes companies to get stuff out, and in turn the over pricing that happens to pharmaceutical drugs. I wouldn't mind more quality control in the industry, but personally, I wouldn't buy nearly as much stuff if the prices jumped.

Honesty could fix it but I am not holding my breath.

.
it is very very hard. It is very easy to spike a product and get away with it. The FDA practices no oversight pretty much when it comes to this. Sometimes I come across stuff that i know is spiked (from testing) and there is nothing i can really do about it. What makes it harder is that the consumers like spiked products, and so if I go after a spiked product then I am chastised for ruining the party

That is definitely a bummer. What a conundrum; the industry is here to promote health and athletic benefits, yet we are in a sense playing around with chemicals with no safety data and are not natural. Crazy stuff.

Edit: sorry about the derail OP. Just realized I am off topic of these particular companies.

PA... Before the ban on Ephedra and Pro-Hormones was there as big a problem with spiking as we're seeing today?
I remember taking the original version of a product VyoTech made (I don't even know if they're still in business). It was the "pro-hormone" they had BEFORE they changed the formula up and added the AI you came out with. I don't remember the exatct name of the product but I wanna say it was 17-methyl-halo or some sh!t like that.
I'm not saying the original, pre-antiaromatase version was spiked, but if it wasn't I'd be shocked. The first workout I did on that stuff put 1-2" on my arms (pumped) and I held that pump for several hours after. I never tried the version after they added your anti-a, but if I was a betting man I'd say the original stuff was spiked with something very anabolic.... I lost a lot of water weight while I was on it as well, so I'm doubting (if it was spiked) that it was any kind of heavy androgen.

Wasn't trying to put you on the spot there. Like I said, it was the version prior to you anti-a being added. I wish the original had it in there... The estrogenic sides were not very fun.

I am pretty sure Hi tech also acquired APS.

I use Humapro on cuts and like it. I too agree its not protein, its aminos. IMO I think its overpriced, but no one else makes anything close to the amino profile. the low calories help me cut and it taste good.

That is a very nice formula from the looks. Who is this company? I am going to pick up some. I am not overly concerned with the price.

Its owned by a trainer of professional athletes named Ian Danney. Its marketed to athletes and not to bodybuilders which is why you never heard of it

it is extremely unethical to not provide to spike products and mislead the consumer, imo. is this a marriage made in hell?
