Hey guys
My name is Nathan and I'm new to this forum. I have a few questions and I'm sure I'll get bashed for asking them but I need answers. First off, I'm 19 years old and I've been lifting regularly since my sophomore year of high school for football. However, I haven't had much of a chance to lift recently now that I'm a college student with a part time job. But last week I started back into lifting and I'm really disappointed with the strength I lost over the past months. I've been researching some prohormones and I'm considering Halotest 25. I realize that prohormones are very dangerous and aren't intended for someone my age, but I see so many kids my age taking them with great results that I don't see why I shouldn't be doing the same. Someone give me some answers. How are these kids my age doing prohormones with such success? Why shouldn't I take one too?
And like I said I'm completely new to this forum so I apologize if this wasn't posted in the right place
Hello Nathan, I see a lot of youngsters (I am 46 anyone under 30 is a youngster to me) obviously running ph's or other as's. I cannot tell you I've never touched a PH, I have. I do try to stay natural 99% of the time, that is my personal choice. I get more personal satisfaction from my natural gains, but as I said I have garnered gains, though fleeting, the other way too. Pat is the expert, no doubt, I do however have a wealth of real world knowledge and I've gone through a lot. I won't try to scare you but I will advise caution, especially at your age. At 19 you most likely have the good old natural testosterone cranking. I made my best gains beteen 19 and 24 and I'd never touched any anabolic substance. I was 210 and ripped with no thermogenics no androgens hell creatine wasn't even around. I didn't even have a clue of how to work out nor was my diet good. Yet I grew, point of the matter is, that at your age you have so much natural potential why use a prohormone just yet? Almost three years ago I tore my left bicep off the bone. I had a complete distal tendon rupture. I was in a splint six weeks and a brace for three more months. My arm went into the splint at 18 inches and came out 13. I was not able(by order of the doctor) to lift more than 25 pounds with that side for another three months. 3 months after being turned loose my bicep was back to its normal size and strength. You may have lost a little strength but you will get it back. If that is the only reason you want to use a PH then its kind of overkill.
I believe that one should at least push their maximum physical potential before resorting to chemical assistance, if for nothing else than to prepare your tendons and ligaments for the rapid increases in muscle strength from the androgens as tendons and ligaments do not strengthen proportionately. I truly suggest that you hold off a few years, I understand looking around and seeing other people passing you up and knowing it is with chemical assistance, but that is just another case of keeping up with the Jonses, I am not the biggest guy in my gym, I am usually(thought not now) the most cut unless a show is coming up. I know what most of the guys are running and how much, I get asked a lot of questions on show prep and dieting and people break it all down to me. If I wanted to keep up with the beasts of the gym I could and I can easily acquire everything I need to do so. But I also know the costs. If I was intent on competing I'd do what it took to win. I have a type A personality and I hate to lose, that actually is an extreme understatement. But I am not competing. I evaluate the benefits against the risks and make my decisions that way. You have to do that too. I can give you advice all day long but the decision is ultimately yours.
Patrick mentioned counseling. Perhaps you have a body image issue and maybe counseling would be a better choice. I myself suffer from body Dysmorphic disorder and depression. They kind of feed off each other. Bodybuilding is a powerful tool against depression, don't let it be the source of other ills. So you do have an ethical choice to make. I feel my job is to give you supporting information and the benefit of my extra years. If you ever have any questions you need answers to without getting bashed just pm me. If I don't know the answers I have access to people that do. Good Luck
