Hello, everyone.
I've been on some form of Testosterone Replacement Therapy for about four years. Started with gels, graduated to injections, fell back to patches, am now back on injections. Libido has remained a wavering issue throughout, although less of one while on TRT than it was off of TRT. I get the sense that my primary physician, while a good guy, is generally clueless about the trials, pitfalls and resolutions involved in TRT. The endocrinologist I was eventually referred to wasn't very helpful either. Not discussing this with a clinical physician would be foolish, so I certainly plan to, but I also honestly feel that I can receive a more informed response to my queries by using this board. Regardless of the conflicting reports regarding efficacy, I've been considering adding Tongkat Ali to my nutrient intake to gauge the alleged benefits myself. I currently self-administer a testosterone injection every two weeks. On to my questions -
Should I cease TRT while trying Tongat Ali?
Should I attempt both at the same time?
I know that TRT, over time, halts the body's natural production of testosterone. Tongkat Ali *allegedly* amplifies the body's natural production of testosterone (backed up by PubMed articles, but I've read anecdotal reports that counter that). I seek an increase in libido and erectile firmness, and I have no desire to resort to viagra. I am currently taking Citrulline Malate, which has helped in the firmness aspect, although less my second time around than my first time using it.
Any advice in this regard would be appreciated.
