Hey guys I hurt myself around 2 months ago doing a pull up, it felt like my lat muscle kinda slipped down my back a bit and was quite painful for around 2 weeks (i stopped training) it doesnt hurt anymore and i can lift heavy again, but even since then i get pins and needles in my lat/shoulder blade and it feels quite strange

Does anyone know what this could be? i know could be a range of things, but wondering if anyone can give advice ( I will see specialist soon aswell, but i just like knowing haha)

Nerve, either pinched or actually damaged.

Yeah that is what I was thinking, dont think it is damaged though because it doesnt really hurt and doesnt nerve damage hurt like fire or something? haha.

I have tried a massage ball on it and it doesnt hurt anymore than the other side... will prob go see an osteo or physio next week

Thanks!

Seeing a PT wouldn’t hurt too bad. Best of luck either way!

Sometimes nerve symptoms are just burn out, and no, it doesn't always hurt, mine usually just tingles untill i start losing strength. Eat, rest repeat and it goes away. But, who knows. Hope you figure it out.

Nerve is a bit pinched. I bet if you change your pull up form it will help. Not sure if you are doing this, but really try to get your head back and your feet crossed, back and up (big arch in the back) and focus on the lower lats during the entire range of motion - while using natural hand position (shoulder or a little wider than shoulder grip hammer style grip). Also focus on the top 3/4 - any momentum out of the bottom may aggravate the problem. I think this will put things back into place. I would also add pull over and press to un-glue the lats from everything else.

As others have said seeing a PT should be priority number one, but just to give you my experience while I haven't had my lats pin needled, I have had my traps and it helped me out a lot.
